If I ask how someone is doing and they laconically respond, then I know that we certainly are not friends. May not even be an acquaintance and I certainly would not date someone who isn't concerned about my well being. However, I would not be mad at anyone who doesn't respond in kind. I just know where I stand with that person and deal or not deal with them accordingly.
