Violence has seen a bit of a spike in Baltimore over the past few days, with reports of multiple shootings over Memorial Day weekend alone.
CNN reported earlier today that since Friday, 28 people have been shot in Baltimore, and 7 of them died, in a series of shooting incidents chronicled by the police. In addition, a total of 33 people have been killed in Baltimore this month alone.
Baltimore broke out in violence weeks ago, after Freddie Gray died in police custody, but in the following weeks, the anger had subsided, especially following the indictment of the six officers involved.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake spoke about how “disheartening” it’s been to see this kind of setback in the community.
An anonymous Baltimore cop was on CNN last Friday, saying that police morale is “in the sewers” and there is a police slowdown of sorts going on.
