The wedding was really the biggest issue, but over time, I got over it.We helped ourselves by:1.) Putting distance between ourselves and the parents (they were in NOVA, we lived in DC proper)2.) Having hard, honest conversations about our emotional needs EARLY3.) Waiting before we had a kid, so we could be SPOUSES before PARENTSBy the time her mom passed, I didn't worry about whose side my wife would take anymore. I knew she was down for me.
