so we all "got out", but I guess it comes down to circumstance and choices. My family is dysfunctional, but I had both parents in my life and while we was poor, never lived in the hood.
I also went to decent public schools and was too much of nerd to even have a shot at crime even if I wanted it.
Other black men are placed on a path that directly leads to prison, sometimes just because of the neighborhood they grow up in.
