they're so friggin confused. They're just an extension of the same tactics that have been used since forever of taking a large swath of exploited people and getting them to think they're on your team so they can fear and help you defeat all the people who they should actually be united with.
They have no clue who their natural allies really are in this dynamic.
Small business owners are taught to exploit the workers. Exploited workers are taught to resent the jobless. The jobless are taught to fear the immigrants. Immigrants are forced to rely on Walmart-Etc. Walmart-Etc (Corporate America) crush communities and hi-jack the government, then everyone below learns to hate government, which helps the giants crush them even further. (Fuck you Eli Manning - sincerely Patriot fans everywhere)
Exploited white people (who should have always been the natural allies of black and brown people since the 1600s) are given a few extra crumbs and favors by ruling classes and taught to fear the black and brown who resent them and might take their crumbs if allowed to stand up straight. Wealthy (or well-off) college-educated whites have the luxury of being able to easily acknowledge and preach white privilege and enjoy favored status with minority peers while brow-beating broke-ass white people about privilege, generating more ridiculous resentment among struggling white people toward anything "other". Republicans step in, "feel" their pain, and have a field day. Poor white people end up resenting poorer people, browner people, AND education.
Its a mess.
Then an okapi herd shows up directly below this reply to take out some frustration on a blan who worded something wrong lol. Go.
