I'm not a child. You don't have to censor yourself when telling a story. If saying a racial epithet is essential to the story, then say it. If you are reading aloud from a book, say it. If you are singing along with a song, say it.
Just don't use it in general conversation. I'll never use words like faggot, spic, cracker in general conversation. But if it is necessary to use them, I will. I won't go out of my way to alter my speech and avoid them.
The whole thing is so silly. Like the meaning is gone if you censor it. Same as those who don't want to cuss but instead say things like "darn it", "a-hole", "fudge", or "shoot".
