>So I want to start experimenting with new coffees (no more >starbucks). > >I just copped this pour over from Dean & Deluca (i'm a sucker >for design lol...i know a stove top coffee maker would >probably be just as good) :
Pour over is the new fad. I'm more of a brew guy myself. Tried press, tried pourover, tried pods (BLEEGGGHH!!), tried jst about everything....always leads me back to straight up brewing. My current and best ever brewer is a Technivorm Moccamaster :http://www.roastmasters.com/moccamaster.html
>I like strong strong coffee lol >Black...no milk...no sugar....
Me too. On that Heavy D.....
>So tell me everything you know about coffee. > >What goes into making your perfect cup?
The biggest thing for me now is using filtered water and a quality filter. I let the machine do the rest. It's gets the proper temp each and every time. That's like a HUGE part of the perfect cup...
>What is your favorite kind of coffee?
No favorites....I tend to just explore and take notes of the ones I like and dislike. My go-to daily is surprisingly some cheap stuff from Trader Joes. Whole bean of course....but it's the Smooth and Mellow blend.
>Where is your go to online shop for coffee?
Haven't found one yet. The biggest thing I search out though is Fair Trade affiliated brands: http://fairtradeusa.org/products-partners/coffee Also, i've ordered from these guys a few times:http://equalexchange.coop/products/coffee Usually it's more fresh ordering direct, but it'll cost more than just finding it in the store. Most stores that carry good coffee will sell this brand..
>Any coffee subscription services you use?
My wife purchased me a subscription from here for Father's Day.: https://www.craftcoffee.com Use this code for 15% off: jamil4387
>Do you grind at home or get pre-ground?
Grind at home...ALWAYS grind at home. Gotta have that bloom!
