Queens: Sunnyside, Flushing, Jackson Heights, Dutch Kills (basically the junction of Astoria, LIC, Queensbridge and Ravenswood), Ridgewood.
Bronx: Kingsbridge between Heath and Broadway or even Kingsbridge Avenue, Riverdale between Johnson Ave and Riverdale Avenue (they overbuilt -- lots of inexpensive options but you might a well be in Flatlands for all the public transportation options), Pelham Parkway, Bedford Park, Norwood
Manhattan: Inwood (eastside), Sugar Hill (don't look surprised), eastside of Washington Heights (Audubon in particular and around Highbridge), Spanish Harlem still has some spots but you have to know someone.
My neighborhood now has two Thai restaurants, a biergarten and Starbucks. So we're fucking doomed. BUT. You can still find spots east of Vermilyea. You just have to love bachata. Like... LOVE bachata.
