well, it was actually a friend of a friend, of a friend. I wasn't there but here's the story that was recounted to me by someone who witnessed it all:
she goes backstage to meet Mos
they chill with him and his crew for a while, asks to get CD signed
As Mos is about to sign the CD, he gets kinda upset and says the CD is a bootleg
she swears up and down she bought it at HMV (which i think she actually did)
Mos takes the CD and asks some of his people to figure this HMV shit out.
they all hang out for a while longer and he doesn't give the CD back
She was pretty choked about it.
my guess is, keeping in mind this was Canada and it was HMV, maybe it was an IMPORT version? i dunno. seems hard to believe Mos wouldnt recognize his own album artwork. but the story sounds believable.
funny though...
at the end of it all, they all said he was the most down to earth, funniest celeb they ever met
