have jumped militantly on the bandwagon, don't screw with it if you don't need it.
Your sound quality is going to be the same; your hardware determines that, not your software (severe coding errors notwithstanding).
That said, if you have no sound card to speak of and a not-speedy CPU, the hardware component will be a nice upgrade. But today, an up-front system with a good DAC on-card will get you all you need and more, for less cost, and with upgradeability, which Pro Tools only has by making you buy a new unit.
