"how far can you make it with sample-based production"

I was thinking this over. I have been working on some material for my own project and it has always been sample-based. But I never worried, I planned on making it a free mixtape, and concentrate on live performance for marketing, etc. But, recently, I decided to work on this vocalist's demo. So I decided to abandon samples and try to go all original. I wanted her to be able to take this anywhere, radio, etc. BUT, in the process, I def noticed that my production work is just so much better when i chop and cut samples and dig for grooves. Not that playing and sampling myself isnt working, but its just standing out as my sample-based work. So i've been dwelling on how far can I take it. And what would be the payoff? (not necessarily financial). So, just thought its a decent topic to discuss....

Stay strong
