the first time I ever heard anyone say "all the way off, not just vibrate", at least to remember it, was before Into Great Silence. Graham Leggatt, the SFFS ED, introduced the film and *explained* that light is as disturbing as sound, and I thought I might be in love.
Then when I went to lavish praise at Roger Garcia last week (he's our asian cinema programmer and I think he's a god), he and Leggatt were accessible because they were standing outside a theatre smoking. That's when I KNEW I was in love.
