They told people after a screening of The Shining to stick around if they wanted to see something special. Maybe they stayed for that, maybe they saw PTA/Maya skulking about, or maybe the Weinsteins leaked to them that it was going down.
Either way, a slew of folks saw it last night.
General word I've read is it's more inaccessible and strange than TWBB, with fewer memorable one-liners for the public to cling to-- "a fever dream," one person called it. Apparently people think this movie isn't destined for box office as a result... at least upon initial pre-rewards release.
Still, everyone who saw it loved it, singling out Adams as doing the best work of her life and Phoenix as a potential Oscar lock. Folks aren't sure whether PSH would be nominated in lead or supporting, but obviously great work from him.
I really only read five or six brief thoughts on the film and then thought, "Nope! I'm good! Don't need any more!"
