------ Posted: 25 Feb 2007 09:36 pm Post subject: "Knocked Up" was good (feedback from the Arclight) A few suggestions of where the work print didn't exactly work:
1. When Ben is talking to Alison on the phone that ends in the second date being arranged - well it didn't exactly work for me. Alison went from confused/scared/angry to relieved/nervous/hopeful too quickly. Either have Ben says better things OR show that Alison's hormonal issues are already affect her mood.
2. When Ben and Pete come back from Cirque and have the conversation on the bed - well, Ben's transformation seems a little to quick. Pete's obsession with the chairs OVERshadows Ben's emotions.
3. During the period when Ben and Alison don’t talk I'd like to see a conversation between Ben and someone talking about how he is feeling. Maybe just a few lines somewhere to give us a better idea of how long Ben is out of the picture. Maybe another quick scene with Ramis? Or in a montage type thing?
4. The transformation of Dr. Kuni from super dick to professional seemed to be missing something too. Was he hormonal?? He went from being a control freak that was upset with control freaks to being a completely professional doctor. Did I miss something?
5. Keep the vaginal crowning shots *IN*. I know there's about 1 shot in 1,000 of that actually getting on the screen, but try to keep that in.
Overall the film was really really funny. But cut one of the shoebomber references, I’d suggest the Richard Reid one from Ben's roommates. Let Alison have that one.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - DO NOT PUT THE BOUNCER IN THE TRAILER!!!!! Save that one for the movie. That scene was a true treat. Let audiences discover in the movie. It was such a surprise. It's a "Paul Riser being crushed by a Dempsey Dumpster in One Night at McCools" type scene. If the paul Riser thing was not in the McCools trailer then McCools may have been one of the funniest films of 2001.
I'll be at the theater for the commercial release.
