don't lay that patronizing game on me.
>your entitled to feel whatever way >you felt about the movie, >that's the beauty of this >world otherwise it would be >boring... I also am puzzled >by why you dislike it >soo much and as far >as your points they seem >to sound like misdirected passion >in my eyes. >
not misdirected passion... one of the worst things about this movie is that it aroused NO passion in me. which i thought was odd, because even the worst movies make me feel SOMETHING... even if it's revulsion.
i'm just puzzled that people can be so... (i don't want to use the word "ignorant," because of its negative and judgmental connotations, but i can't think of another word) about history. this film copies down some of the classic white man/tragic mulatress stereotypes of many old Dorothy Dandridge films (which Halle is SO sad Dorothy had to endure).
but i ain't mad at nobody for liking it. after all, i love the film Belly though just about everybody in the world hates it, and even i have to admit that it is rife with incompetence. but it appeals to me on certain levels and you can't change that, so i won't tell you to hate Monsters Ball.
>>people try to have something resembling >>an intelligent conversation about what >>they saw in the movie >>and you guys don't like >>what I say, so you >>start throwing hissy fits. that's >>so childish, people. and then >>you claim that I am >>making up evidence to support >>my argument that the film >>is offensive. I think you >>people are making up evidence >>to argue that it is >>worth a damn. > >you people? > >actually I was agreeing with her >responses to your statements. >
right. "you people". you and her. you agree with her, right?
"you people"
>please let me know of your >evidence I'm all ears, okay >eyes. >
i thought i just did.
>I still haven't seen a strong >point on why people dislike >this movie in my eyes >it seemed that they were >too offended by the the >racism which was simply part >of the story... please >explain >
i don't think you're listening (reading)... i'd rather point you to angel22's or janey's posts, because i'll be the first to admit that my responses on this topic have not been my most coherent because i really didn't like this movie and can hardly even muster the energy to write about it coherently... but i still think i have some valid points in my loose critique if you care to look past your own love for the movie.
>btw while you say that "we" >aren't letting you get your >point across without disrespecting you >you call us jerks. >
yeah. i think Damali is a jerk to claim that i'm making stuff up to support my argument. and if you agree with her on that, i think you're a jerk, too.
disagree with me all you like, but please don't defame my character.
>think
YOU think. all i hear from YOU is passion.
