Matter-of-fact, it's SO underwhelming, that I have to revisit it every 3 years because I forget it. "Hey, a Scorcese flick...I have to review it", then I watch it again, and it's like...meh"
>This movie almost rivals 'The Departed' in its >overrated-underwhelmingness.
The Departed was the shit
>- The most consistent recurring theme was actually >a goddamn family feud featuring the ambitious caring >husband and slut coked out wife. <---borrrrrring. >Who cares.
You KNEW she was going to fuck him over from the GET go. "I'm going to put a shitload of money...in an iron BOX...and...only YOU have the key". Sharon Stone: *drooling* Wow...you really trust me, huh?
>- The protagonist was actually not a very interesting, >compelling person. Not at all. This is why it immediately >sucks worse than 'American Gangster', whose protagonist >was definitely very interesting and intriguing.
Deniro had to do absolutely no acting in this movie. "Just stand there, with a cigarette". They could've pulled this movie off with a cardboard cut-out of him.
>- The friendship between Pesci and Deniro was not >well done. Wasn't believable. At all. Their >scenes together sucked, mostly.
I don't even think they had a friendship, tho...they obviously KNEW eachother for a long time, and were aquaintences, but I think they were more "cool with eachother".
>- Pesci was a cussing, rambling, mess. Didn't like him, >or his performance.
See Dinero. They told Pesci..."Just be a prick". "Take your character from 'Goodfellas', and parody HIM".
>- All the other Italian guys were basically the >same. Couldn't tell any of them apart. Mind you, >this was not the case in 'Goodfellas'.
Yep.
>- Didn't explain the actual organized crime aspect >very well.
The most intrigue it had was how to create a job-title to evade the gaming commission, and how ol'girl carried diamonds in here hair. Other than that, it was just Pesci mugging people.
>- James Woods? Meh. He always plays a good sleezeball.
and he overdid it lol "Where are you? Where are you?" WTF?
