Let her lead you. She'll tell you what she's dealing with if she thinks you are open-minded. My Pops was a scary guy but for some reason I felt okay talking to him about some things. When I was 13 and dating a 18 year old, he played street ball with the guy and, suddenly, I was without a boyfriend. There was no talk about sex...I was left with my books. The next time I kept my mouth shut.

She let out a loooong sigh and asked me, "How do you feel?" It was cool because I was scared at first but ended up feeling empowered. She told me to use my head and be extra careful. In other words, "Be smart." We didn't really talk about sex...I learned how to look and not touch. Ha! Seriously, the adults were sooo worried I would mess up and they weren't always around.
