sponsoring for an event isn't about the individual, it's about the cause. I wouldn't even solicit for pledges unless it was something I felt strongly about - and the AIDS Walk is something that has affected the NW community AND the world so greatly that I feel obligated to do my part. If there are causes you feel deeply close to - homeless foundations, humane society, cancer victim funds - whatever the case - you're giving AND participating in their fundraisers are good ways of setting a positive tone for future Okayplayer events to raise money for worthy causes.
