having been to singapore i agree. its really only good for shopping (and only if you're loaded so all i got to do was look and drool) its interesting of course. especially cuz they got this crazy paranoia (cameras absolutely everywhere) and all these mental laws happening there (i.e. they keep "reclaiming" land... filling the ocean waters around them to make the country physically bigger). they do have the best hip hop scene on that side of the world tho.
to the person asking about malaysia: its a beautiful country. but huge poor/rich gap. its quite diverse tho and quite developed. kuala lumpur is a world class city. a good friend of mine (with whom i stayed while i was there) lives within spitting distance of the twin towers (really) and she's a bit scared right now but i'm running off topic... i'm not sure i'd want to live there. maybe for a bit for kicks and stuff, they have mad problem there (but then again what country doesn't?)
and yeah, i'd love to get out of here. have always wanted to. small problem is i have people depending on me (financially and stuff) so i got responsibilities that i just can't escape right now.

"the 'centre' asks us, demands of us, that we should sign a peace agreement quickly and convert ourselves into an 'institutional' political force, that is to say, convert ourselves into yet another part of the machinery of power. to them we answer 'NO' and they do not understand it. they do not understand that we are not in agreement with those ideas. they do not understand that we do not want offices or posts in the gov't. they do not understand that we are stuggling not for the stairs to be swept clean from the top to the bottom, but for there to be no stairs, for there to be no kingdom at all."
