> >>Not really, then again, most of the league doesn't have the >>potential to win a championship in 2-3 years, even the elite >>teams > >I don't know, I look at team like the Mavs, Suns, Bulls, Cavs, >possibly the Heat and Spurs, and maybe even the Clippers and >the Magic, and I see teams that could have championship runs >in their future. Eight out of 30 is pretty good. The Mavs, Spurs, and the Suns are probably the 3 teams with a legit shot to contend for a title. The Bulls & the Clippers will be competitive, the Cavs (remember Z will probably be gone by then) will need to make a move to help Lebron, the Heat won't be there (Shaq will probably retire by then), and the Magic will STILL need more help than Jameer and Dwight
>>Can you say the same with the Nets, Sixers, Wizards, >>Timberwolves, Kings, etc...keeping in mind that some of >those >>key players on those teams might retire or be retired by >then? >>It's not a given for most teams in the league. > >Out of that less, I'd say there's thbe potential for the Nets >and the Wizards. But then again, the vast majority of Sixers >fans on this board don't seriously argue that their team is >going to make serious run any time soon. A lot of Knicks fans >(and even Zeke suporters) seem to honestly believe the team, >as it's more or less configured now, is destined for >greatness. And I find that a bit puzzling. The potential isn't there for the Nets, because Kidd will be gone (retired), and Marcus Williams ISN'T the future. The Wizards still won't play D, so their shot is a long one. And as for the Sixers, the reason I bring them up is they got some nerve popping shit about Knicks fans, when they went crazy over any and every move the GM made. No Knicks fan said they would contend, mostly all of them said they'll be a lot better than last year under LB, and most said they'll be playoff bound, which is totally reasonable. A lot of cats that hate on Zeke and the Knicks say that with the roster, this is an impossibility, and Zeke will find a way to ruin it, and that's what pisses Zeke defenders and Knicks fans off.
> >>Who's to say that the Knicks won't have a better record this >>year, then the next year, then the next year...possible >enough >>to reach the ECF or even contend? The hate is there before >the >>team is even given a chance. Plus with the talent on the >>roster (nobody can argue that the Knicks don't have any >>talent), it's a safe assumption that this team can do some >>damage, enough to at least be playoff bound (which is where >>the building starts). > >I can say I see this team win 35 games this year, MAYBE in the >low 40s the year after that. And as an 7 or 8 seed max. And >IMHO, this team isn't put together for a huge play-off upset. >Without a massive overhaul, this team doesn't seem built for >an ECF run. Again, why is being playoff bound an impossibility? The talent on the team is there, the draft picks are balling, they're showing better chemistry then they EVER did last year, they've got as legit a shot as any team in the Eastern Conference, except for the Heat and the Pistons who are legit title contenders
>>So the question is, why are these questions ONLY posed for >the >>Knicks and their fans, when the same can be asked for a TON >of >>teams around the league, which some have made WORSE moves >than >>Isiah? Why are these questions NYK specific? > >'Cause this is a Zeke/NYK's-themed post. And, as I said >before, if you hear tell it from some NYK fans, this team has >the chance to knock-off the Heat in the play-offs this year. >Which, I'm sorry, I just don't see. I don't think anyone said all that. I see Knicks fans and Zeke/Steph supporters as being more excited about this season because they have nowhere to go but up. And as soon as people are showing excitement about the Knicks, some hater on some equally garbage team is trying to shit all over it. Nobody's saying they'll win the title, but most are saying they'll be competitive, possibly even playoff-bound. ALL are saying they'll be better than under Larry Brown.
