I just read yet another article where the DPz talk about purposely distancing themselves from "conscious rappers" like Mos Def, Talib kweli and The Roots because it limits their fans to "white people". Although I understand where they're coming from, it kinda makes me upset because I been a fan of those artists from day one (I'm at every show in Atlanta too, I put my money where my mouth is) and I'm as black as they come.

Since they've even gone as far as changing their style from the first album, i guess my question is this: With this verbal tirade against artists like Mos and Talib (both strongly supported by The Roots and Okayplayer.Com) I wonder if they're making a mistake by shutting out that core audience that they've built up so far?

Heck, the only reason i saw them perform before is because they were on the same bill as The Roots one year...what do you guys think...
