I would argue that it's not about quality of album. A lot of sorry-ass rappers make sorry-ass albums, but get good promotion and push plat or multi-plat numbers. If you're running a business you need to be pushing your artists because that is the only way that they will sell.
But onto the point that you were making. Beans and State Property are both decent and should have done better then they did. DJ Clue put out a couple of nice compilations (if you like that sorta stuff) and could have done better. (I mean isht, it's EASY to push a compliation.) I'm not a fan of N.O.R.E., but he could have definitely gone to superstar status with the right promotion/marketing. Roc just dropped the ball.
