Just wanted to say that as a prince "fam", I truly feel ashamed by his attitude towards D and ?, and even more so by the attitude of a few prince fanatics who feel comfortable with this. Prince obviuosly feels threatened in some way (even if he will forcefully deny it like in the "undisputed" remix), hence this misplaced reaction. But this "huge ego problem" is not a new issue, and it his precisely what is leading him right into the wall.
It is a truly sad story, because they would surely make incredible work together. Instead of despising the new generation, prince should put his ego aside and do what Miles Davis (one of his idols by the way) was able to do at the end of the 60s : refresh his sound and focus on the future of music by working with the most talented musicians/producers of his time. That would open a whole new carreer to him, but I doubt he'll be able to.
And I wanted to say I LOOOVVVVEEE Voodoo. It is a landmark album, a "What's Goin' on" of the 2000s, and people (even prince fans) will finally realize that. The critics (no uptempo jams, no "hits", old-fashioned sound) are obviuosly misplaced. I hope they come from people who listened to the album only once or twice, cuz you know, you have to get into it and stop sleeping if you want to be hypnotized : It is truly a "Voodoo" album! The album is modern, the off-beat drumming is off the hook, so stop dissing! I hope the next one will be in the vein of Common's "Time Traveling" or "Coldblooded", which are even better than anything on Voodoo (except Africa : amazing song. Just a personal opinion though), and pave the way for the future....
Peace
