Peace and blessings OKP. Yo why is it that we cats from chicago gotta show so much disregard for each other? This is the exact thinking that prevents chicago from leaving the mark on the hip-hop landscape that it should. How could u possibly say common sold out the chi?....i'm str8 out of chicago and i cant think of another mc that holds up the light for the chi like common. He has ALWAYS big upped the chi...put chicago talent on (malik yusef, chante savage, mad production) he came to columbia and did a show in the damn parking lot off wabash...he just recently was here doin a panel discussion with monique charidine...not only as a chicagoan but as an artist i am proud of common for reaching outside of chicago. Although i love my city, lets face it shit there just aren't the resources here for artist that there are in NY. If you tryin to be on the come up, u gotta make that move. Least for rye now until artist LIKE common and da brat start using their labels as vehicles to draw the attention towards chicago...which in turn brings money into the picture, which in turn eleviates the need for chicago artist to have to leave just get put on. The world is a lot bigger than chicago. I have lived both here and on the each coast. two totally different experiences, and i actually apprecaite the chi more having lived there. It's not like common said he was never comin back this mug. He just had to make moves for a minute. As far as him sayin he is a new yorker now i dont know if that is true or not but if it is i am disappointed...i would be interested to hear from him wut he meant by that. And yo son as far as your comments about common being gay u r just ignorant yo. Wut the hell does that have to do with his lyrical ability? And the fact that the man has style does not predetermine that he is gay. I'm not sayin common is perfect, but i know that being from chicago, the people here are really proud of where they are from. We have to fight for every bit of respect we got. Most people haven't even been here and wanna talk about my city. But we know wut is like goin to the festivals in the fall. The taste in the summer. Just chillin by the lake. Goin to the underground sets where the real hot shit is. Chicago is an incredible city that i wish more people had a chance to experience. But with the shit infested words flowin out of your mouth, there should be little motivation for people to want to experince that.
