for a concert that should've been worth every mile of our drive.. 12 hours in a packed car, having to stay in a shitty motel with piss water in the pool.. and I can't say that it came even close to being worth it. We went on Thursday and were only contemplating what 'special guests' were going to performing.. and not just because we were hoping for it.. but we were EXPECTING it.. especially after all that was said by ?uest.. how it wasn't about the people mentioned on the tickets, but the people that WEREN'T. And.. unfortunately.. Rahzel was the only thing I liked about the Thursday show. I had never seen Nas perform and was greatly anticipating him.. but when he left the stage, I was like "THAT'S IT?!!" Sure, timing and such should imply that no one will be there long.. but I felt like Common did a better and longer set. And I'm a big Common fan, so that was great but still.. I've seen Common many times in CHICAGO, where he def. brings it.. I couldn't stop screaming when he'd mention the City of Wind.. but this was NYC, this was Nas.. and I felt unsatisfied. At the end of the night, when we saw Badu and Dave showed face to say bye.. I was like "thanks for nothing, I'd rather not know that they were there late.. I'd rather lie to myself and believe they were not planning on coming at all." In the end, if it weren't for Rahzel.. I would've said a lot of apologizes to my friends on the drive back.. it just wasn't the concert we anticipated to see.. for that, we would've stayed home. We've already seen The Roots with Kane and with Common here in Chicago..
