around my way there was alot of buzz for Masterpiece Theater. After Phrenology came out, alot cats looked at him like "damn, they making albums for straight coffee shop chick and white dudes". Whether that's fair or not is another discussion. Nonetheless, buzz went away after that. I don't think a solo album by him would do too well now, because I bet he would use more "underground" productuion, which never translates into sales. If he used tracks from Timbo, Neptunes, Kanye, Swizz, etc. it would work. Almost every hit has at least 2 famous people affiliated with it. It's rare that Jay-Z would have a hit record on the radio with Ricky from down the street on beats. Em needed Dre, 50 needed Em, etc. Jada is the closest thing to what I would expect a BT solo to be like. I do agree that the charisma of a Busta, Em, Jigga, or even 50 isn't there in the studio. But I think mainstream producers could generate mainstream interest.
