>-that argument is dumb, considering the fact that thought >does nothing but "shape" his voice more & more. i mean, i >know what you're saying, but i can't figure how you relate >it to common. distinctive? sure. but, you're trying him >against someone who can sing. >it ain't too many other mc's other than thought & mos that >can sing.
The difference I was talkin about was the difference between Com's voice on Can I Borrow A Dollar? (high pitched still, not fully mature), and Resurrection (more mature, more dignified), not the difference in voices between Com and 'Riq.... But who cares if Mos and 'Riq can sing anyways, this is rap, not American Idol.
>-right. to the point where there's only a few who can match >him on that time period. ll, 'kast, snoop, & thought. > >still wanna argue?
Of course I do... LL aint murdered shit from 94-04, he drop a verse here and there, but he damn sure aint consistent. Snoop? In his own words, bitch please...he's super sporadic with his shit. Doggystyle is Snoop's only dope record, and even he knows that. Without Dre, Snoop is midgrade at best...
>>Com murdered everything he's pretty much been on, and IMO he's the only MC who kept pace with Canibus back when everybody else was gettin sprayed by dude on they own tracks. > >-you're the one who's sheltered, dude.
How am I sheltered for makin that statement? Do you remember when Canibus first came out? He was killin everybody on they own fuckin albums like that whole first year. The only joint where I felt like somebody kept up with him was Com on "Making a Name for Ourselves"...Canibus was bodyin everybody else, I don't even think that point is debateable.
>>That Nas shit, that's Illmatic fuckin with everybody's heads. > >-yeah? > >-what about the 4 joints after that, that were either "not >so much" (other than "i am"), or horrible?
You single out I Am as being the gem of the rest of the bunch? That's gotta be a first. So It Was Written was "not so much" huh? Stillmatic "not so much"? The Lost Tapes "not so much"? Yeah, riiiight...
>>the only misstep Nas ever had IMO is Nastradamus, and that's only cuz it got bootlegged to holy high hell and alot of stuff meant for that ended up on mixtapes and scrapped. > >-THAT's what happened, eh?
Yes that's what happened, and if you read any magazines when Nastradamus came out it wasn't even supposed to be called that at first, it was supposed to be called Death of Escobar or someshit like that...same thing that happened to him happened to Mobb Deep on Murda Musik and forced them to revamp they shit too and rush it out. J-Love's Mobb Misses and Nas Finest comps with the missing tracks verify both statements thank you very much.
>>Nas aint just capable, he has done great things. > >-i never doubted that. > >maybe you missed my point.
I must have, enlighten me.
>>He's as lyrical as he wants to be, as conceptual as he feels like, and he's still guaranteed platinum every time out. > >-what's sales got to do w/ it? > >-mofos won't ever realize that the best mc's ain't >necessarily the one's that everyone likes (buys)
Exactly...I brought up his sales cuz they're icing on the cake. He does whatever the fuck he wants and still pushes serious units, only him and Outkast can say that comfortably. (I would say Em, but he has to throw that stupid song on every LP to cater to his base audience)
>-YOU could compare, but i can't. (in reference to the No Ideas Original vs. Web or Boom or whatever you wanna put up, and Nas generally outspittin 'Riq) > >not so much.
Well I know you love dude, so I know its hard for you to believe it, but the proof's right there.
>-you ain't hearin' dude.
I hear him, but he don't grab me like Com, Nas, or Jay might do.
(Damn, you made me talk about Nas so much I couldn't squeeze my man Com in there alot, im mad about that....yeah, Com Sense is that shit too, lol)
