perhaps. but i think you gotta call a spade a spade. like nicholson implied in "a few good men", most can't handle "the truth" of what military service includes. all those "sexy" war movies notwithstanding, it ain't pretty and it isn't designed to be. ultimately it's "kill or be killed" -- and that's pretty much the bottom line.
and when folsk "kirk out" as a result of the pressures, or decide that they've been duped then sadly they are often judged as monsters by the very one's they defend (vietnam soldiers getting spit on and called babykillers).
like i said, it's a huge mess.
and (again not you) too many are pulling sheep mode and basing their opinion on what "the media" say and forgetting that the media is just another part of the machine (if they even acknowledge the machine at all).
i started this all out by saying "better him than me" and i sincerely say that realizing that next time I could be the "demon" as opposed to the demon-izer
