that's pretty much the biggest influence I could identify in Aesop, & for that matter most that off-beat/random-tangent underground rap of the late 90's/early 00's. but maybe that's just cause I MYSELF heard that first way back hella years previous,--they might not necesarrily have ever heard it since he's pretty local, but that was the first thing I thought of basically when I heard them off-beat "underground" rappers.
but Aesop Rock at least has definitely patterned himself after & acknowledged Saafir's influence. Much less hardcore/disturbing, more bookish, not as good a voice, but very similar nonetheless.
& also, you a fool for recommending anything beyond a random track here and there besides Boxcar Sessions. There's barely 2 good songs on ANYTHING else he's released past that classic. I mean, actually there ARE plenty of great collabs & moments thru the years,--I'm bout ta make the ill lil Saafir mixtape ta compile all that actually--but def not albums...
