"So could the Soulquarians really have "changed the game"?"

or specifically ruled black music for a minute ala Pfunk or when the Wu ran hip hop?

I posted this in the lesson because it's not an appreciation post.
So before making a comment, try not to base it on whether or not *you* loved or hated or felt they were under or overrated. This thread isn't really about that. It's more about whether or not they could have, as a strong united group, effectively run shit. "They" being D, Badu, Quest, Saadiq, Bilal, Slum, Roots etc. etc. Add any peripheral muhfuckas that I can't think of right now.

Was there a period there where they could have not been so hungup on the Neosoul label and got on some real guerilla marketing shit. Staying out on the road together, really selling themselves. D playing up the sexy. Saadiq giving everyone a strong song or two that will guarantee them *crossover* success (crossing over from kufis to fitteds)

Again, try not to focus on whether or not they made consistently great music. Because that clearly never defines what's poppin.

(Hopefully someone with a rep here in the lesson can keep this from going "wood"row wilson out this bitch lol)
