"External Hard Drive Help" Wed Dec-20-06 11:11 PM by Organ
My hard drive is only 4 months old 150 gig drive and I only have 16 gigs of stuff on it mainly comprising of music and videos
So out of no where the shit deletes one of my music folders and now clicks and shit when my computer is trying to recognize it and shines that dumb ass red light
Eventually my comp recognizes it but it is annoying coming out of a folder it always freezes for like 10-15 seconds and clicks it never did this before
So anyway, me not knowing shit about anything..I was fucking around and ran an error volume check or something
Now I can't see any of my folders or hard drive content but it still recognizes that there is 16 gigs being used up
Any way I can get my stuff back? I tried using something called Zero Assumption Recovery but it got stuck going through the volume at one point for like 4 hours
Am I just fucked ? Also, it was FAT32 or something I read that that format isn't reliable If I have to take the L can someone tell me how to start over and reformat it so it is NFTS or whatever the other format is
One more thing, if I do have to reformat will that make the hard drive start over and not recognize that there is still those 16 gigs taken up
I searched for answers everywhere but I really couldnt come up with much
One more detail in case it helps Whenever I plugged the hard drive in my comp would usually pop up asking what I want to do ? Open the files to view in a folder, play content with WMV etc Now it doesn't do that I have to go to 'my computer' myself
