DS1 through 3 had this issue. DS1 had the awful dragon butts in lavaland area. DS2 in particular had a great/miserable fakeout in drangleic castle where you thought you were approaching the end of the game but there were like 6 more areas to trudge through. DS3 is just a massive game with a lot of levels. bloodborne kept the momentum until the end but i think it's a more compact and brisk experience than ER or DS series
i think after giant mountain there is only one more non-secret area which is a big legacy dungeon. just have to bang your head against the fire giant and then you're down the home stretch. i just beat the fire giant and immediately went to secret snowland so i am not 100% on this and going off what i skimmed in the wiki while i was trying to figure out where to get a dang somber ancient dragon smithing stone
