This game has a very grounded, weighty atmosphere to it and it reinforces that with all of the systems, the ways the characters move and speak and all that...
But the tutorial also teaches you to play a pretty different game than what it ultimately turns into. I've almost completely fallen off the track of the story hunting pelts, feathers, completing challenges and so forth but I'm still not paying any attention to crafting and I'm definitely not worrying about having supplies to replenish my circles or my cores. I'm doing it ALL THE TIME but enemies carry so many different items that cover you hunting for food and all that is just superfluous stuff you can engage with if you want.
Even if you have your camp fully stocked, if you visit it frequently (I go back almost every night honestly...this game has be finally just trotting, walking instead of running, all that stuff I usually have to pretend is fun to do in GTA) at some point the characters will start cycling into their desperation dialogue even if you're keeping the camp fully upgraded and stocked on everything. It's all just window dressing.
It's kind of hard to fuck around and rampage around but I didn't come here for that and I lowkey kind of love how getting in trouble while you're centrally located in Saint Denis essentially means you're dead. A foot chase down there at night under the gas light is fucking wild.
