hey all,
having a bit of a problem with a computer.

The machine is running windows xp and for some reason it's not able to read dvd's or cd's from the dvd-RW. also, the monitor will display fine while running windows xp but will shut down with the power light still showing green. if i shut the monitor off and then power it back on, it will display normally, but the screen goes almost black if it 'shuts down'.

the monitor is an LCD if that makes any difference.

any help will be appreciated.
