but I'm in the market for a new tv as well and I had a few questions. My living room has a built in shelf for a tv. Its about 15 feet away from the couch and its a couple feet higher than eye level. the room gets a lot of sun during the day so it is a well lit room. the opening for the tv is about 50.5 inches wide so I'm looking at sets 50" and below.

what type of set should i get? I want to get the largest set possible. I'm leaning toward a rear projection dlp set for two reasons: price and and the fact that they dont have a glass cover over the screen. The set i have now is an old crt rear projection and unless the room is dark all i see in the screen is glare from the light and reflections so i don't really want anything with the glass cover on the screen(plasma). Also since I have to look up at the screen the viewing angle sucks and it makes the screen look even darker.

is a rear projection dlp set going to be bright enough considering how much light this room gets during the day? will i be able to see it considering that I will have to look up at the set from my couch. I can always put a 2x4 under the rear of the set to angle the screen down but i'd like to avoid doing that.
