My 2014 has nearly the same geek bench score.
I use mine on a desktop with external keyboard and external monitor so the Retina screen improvements don't matter for me very often.
And that makes the Touchbar almost completely unused.
Sure, the new machine's SSD and RAM are way faster but 2014's is fast enough for what I do. If my machine was stolen or completely broken then maybe - but it's not compelling enough for me now.
I think most PC manufactures are in this dilemma - the processor improvements are lagging so the replacement cycle is getting longer.A 2014 MacBook has a good screen, fast enough SSD, and nearly as fast of a processor - but can be had for as little as $1100 for a used one in perfect condition.
The only reason I got the 2014 over the 2012 I had was USB 3.0 - that was an improvement worth the upgrade.
