2811030, 2024/25 NBA Regular Season Week 2 Posted by csuave03, Tue Oct-29-24 11:10 AM
3 undefeated teams after Week 1
Lakers aren't one of them but they are looking better than last year
Bucks were better off with Jrue than Dame
Moving right along...

2811033, Lakers barely losing with Bron playing like that. Posted by Ryan M, Tue Oct-29-24 11:59 AM
Never thought I'd see the day.

2811049, Bucks traded Jrue when the real issue is Middleton Posted by Lach, Tue Oct-29-24 05:26 PM
Dude can't stay healthy anymore and when he was out there he was looking like he was in steep decline.

2811066, Giannis gone fuck around and request a trade in the post-game presser... Posted by Dstl1, Wed Oct-30-24 05:34 AM
bruh has NO patience, lol. He was saying after their second loss that they didn't have an identity and shit.

2811112, i dunno what the Spurs are trying to do w/ Wemby... Posted by PROMO, Thu Oct-31-24 09:47 AM
but it's driving me fucking crazy.
like, maybe Pop can't coach anymore and it's time to hang it up.
|
2811115, Is it the Spurs and Pop or is he not the guy most thought he would be? Posted by Beezo, Thu Oct-31-24 12:38 PM
Just asking. I haven’t watched enough to have an opinion.
|
2811116, last game they had him chilling in the weakside corner half the game... Posted by PROMO, Thu Oct-31-24 01:13 PM
waiting for kick out threes while his bum ass teammates tried (and failed) to prove they were the man going one on one. this same shit happened at the beginning of last season.
he should touch the ball every time down the court. it doesn't happen.
shit just looks weird AF and disjointed.
|
2811117, Yeah, he looked visibly frustrated he wasn't getting the ball Posted by Ashy Achilles, Thu Oct-31-24 01:26 PM
Not sure if that's on Pop, his teammates, or both
|
2811121, Are they still trying the Sochan Runs The Offense thing? Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Oct-31-24 02:39 PM
I know they like that long term, but I'm not exactly as optimistic as the Spurs are that he's this Scottie Barnes level reader of the floor running an offense.
Obviously on a team with Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie and Harrison Barnes and Malaki Branham, they're gonna have, like 2-3 non-passing scorers on the floor a lot of the time. And there's only one ball out there.
|
2811148, They don’t post him up? Posted by DJR, Fri Nov-01-24 05:26 PM
Or at least that mid range, between the post and wing(Carmelo/Dirk area)?
If teams put wings on him, he should be able to shoot 10-15 footers over them all night long?
|
2811151, definitely not low post. Posted by PROMO, Fri Nov-01-24 07:29 PM
sometimes they'll post him around the FT line but they seem to use him as a facilitator (he's a good passer for the most part) in that area vs. expecting him to make a move in the lane or turn and shoot over a smaller guy.
|
2811123, Maybe they’re just tanking games early Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Thu Oct-31-24 03:21 PM
Like last year for this draft class.
Lowe says it’s simple

|
2811124, word. there's definitely SOME of what he's saying going on. Posted by PROMO, Thu Oct-31-24 03:45 PM
and one thing i do agree with: Wemby does have to just start being more forceful even if that means ACTUALLY forcing things for himself. he's big enough and skilled enough that even forcing offense is gonna work out in a lot of cases (getting fouled or getting a good look over smaller comp).
but, there's definitely a lot of stupidity going on as well.
|
2811125, Zach Lowe is still cranking out content? Posted by Numba_33, Thu Oct-31-24 03:56 PM
I don't use Reddit that much, so I can't figure out what the original source of the Zach Lowe quote or more importantly, if that quote was from before ESPN fired him.
|
2811147, Apparently he's been posting commentary on X/Twitter Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Fri Nov-01-24 05:16 PM

2811154, this week thus far for the Cavs: Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Nov-01-24 09:09 PM
- Gritty comeback on the Knicks in MSG (were down 13, won by 6, Cavs were shooting like ass relative to other games, the Ty Jerome cheat code did not work)
- Belt to Ass on Lakers @ home despite a RIDICULOUS free throw disparity and multiple dudes in foul trouble
- Double digit win on a Magic team without Paolo, but with Donovan Mitchell in extreme foul trouble with the refs giving Jalen Suggs the Anthony Davis Whistle (WTF).
6-0.
Starters aren't getting run into the ground.
Turns out, the Core 4 can play together, and you can actually get spacing with the guys on this team.
Ty Jerome has been a revelation off the bench. Up & Up Rubio with better shooting.
Onto a double dose of the Bucks, who are looking like some ASS.
|
2811155, knicks killed the pistons in a game Posted by Effa, Fri Nov-01-24 09:18 PM
I thought they could lose if KAT sat out.
also I don't think Gianni will force his way out of milwaukee. I truly think he wants to be loyal to the org. The Nets being floated as a possible team being HIS choice has to be some front office throwing shit at the wall.
|
2811165, Rudy Gobert tired of the disrespect lol Posted by guru0509, Fri Nov-01-24 11:55 PM

2811328, Warriors, bee-otch! Posted by mrhood75, Thu Nov-07-24 02:30 PM
This week has sucked, so I'm taking joy where I can. And right now the Warriors beating the defending champs in Boston will do it for me.
Warriors are looking really good so far on what many thought was going to be a disastrous road trip. Wiggins in playing much better, Hield has been a great pick-up so far, and our atletic young players are doing their thing. 7-1 overall is a satisfying place to be.
And now maybe we can stop hearing about all the "Steve Kerr disrespected Channing Tatum by not playing him in the Olympics!!!!111!" horse-shit. Seriously, find a better way to motivate yourselves. Like being defending champs.
|
2811336, It's sacrilege, but Hield > Klay (last's year Klay), at least fit-wise Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Thu Nov-07-24 08:40 PM
It's sad to think, and I didn't want to admit it, but Hield is the version of Klay the Dubs wished to see. The injuries and internal tension wouldn't allow Klay to play at this level.
Seeing Hield out there play that way makes me a little angry we didn't get to see Klay doing the same thing last year.
|
2811361, The injuries pretty much sealed it Posted by mrhood75, Fri Nov-08-24 02:40 PM
And given the dynamic and history, Klay was always going to resist taking a bench role on this team. Which is his prerogative. But that's what the team needed from him moving forward.
|
2811356, fun to watch. Dubs could actually be title contenders... Posted by PROMO, Fri Nov-08-24 11:40 AM
if they add a piece that can kinda get their own, especially if that piece has size.
|
2811360, This is where it gets potentially interesting. Posted by mrhood75, Fri Nov-08-24 02:38 PM
Even before the road trip, local media already started talking about how the team had enough good young pieces to make a trade at the deadline that could turn them into title contenders.
I'm mixed mind about this. One of the names that keeps coming up is Jimmy Butler. And I'm not sure if I want to trade for (and then extend) a 35-year old player that has spent good chunks of his career not playing well with others.
I think it's going to depend on where this team is at around the all-star break/trade deadline. If it's a 3 or 4 seed, then I say let's take our chances, go the play-offs with this young core and see how far we get, then reevaluate during the off-season.
Of course, all of that goes out the window if, say, Giannis makes himself available. You make a deal for Giannis no matter what. But Giannis isn't going to be available, so I'm not putting stock in that pipe dream.
|
2811581, The Bucks are terrible you may have been on to something here Posted by guru0509, Tue Nov-12-24 03:34 PM
>Of course, all of that goes out the window if, say, Giannis >makes himself available. You make a deal for Giannis no matter >what. But Giannis isn't going to be available, so I'm not >putting stock in that pipe dream.
The rumblings are getting louder
I can see Giannis in San Fran or Houston
Edit Maybe OKC gets in the running too with their 2846372 draft picks that Presti hoarded
|
2811583, yeah that's a no on Butler. Posted by PROMO, Tue Nov-12-24 06:13 PM
Giannis? yes.
i don't even see how Butler would fit on the Dubs.
Giannis? i can see how he'd fit.

2811372, 10-0. Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Nov-08-24 10:46 PM
Going into this, seeing what looked like a revitalized Warriors team might be the one to end this record-setting start for the Cavs.
That first half of basketball, was the most "Belt To Ass" half I've ever seen from this team. a 41 point lead with 83 points, and only 7 of those were scored by Donovan Mitchell.
Buddy Hield, who I was worried about, was only 1/4 from the field for 3 points.
Steph couldn't really carry them.
Bray-mond should have fouled out. After 4 fouls, the refs stopped calling them. He was eventually pulled from the game when the score got out of hand.
It was really the Jonathan Kuminga Show for the Warriors.
Darius Garland is BACK and better than ever. Now that he's found confidence in his shot, he can manipulate defenses.
Evan Mobley now that he is playing like an attacking WING and not a redundant big on offense... is really opening up the rest of this team.
The Kenny Atkinson effect can not be ignored.
and the Cavs just might have the best bench in the game. No bullshit, Ty Jerome (who killed us when he was a Warrior)... absolutely TORCHED on his shifts tonight. It was wild. And because he's in lineups with Sam Merrill and LeVert... it gets even more wild. Can't wait for Max Strus to be back in this.
But that was an ass whooping for 10-0. And another 130-burger, the 5th of the season already. (The Cavs only scored 130 or more 4 times last season)
|
2811373, KD / Kyrie / Sean Marks were so stupid to get rid of him for Nash Posted by guru0509, Sat Nov-09-24 02:05 AM

2811419, 11-0. And let me say this Posted by Dr Claw, Sat Nov-09-24 11:22 PM
the Nets actually made out great this offseason.
Adding Jordi, jettisoning their "guards" and getting someone like Dennis instead of Dinwiddie/whoever else... prepping Bum Simmons for China. Much like what I think of Detroit under JBB, the Nets are playing complementary basketball for the first time in a few seasons, certainly since the first season of the Big 3.
Cam Thomas was allowed to cook properly and he was cooking the Cavs. The looks they generate on offense are way better. They are a very pesky defensive team. The Cavs should have and usually would have lost a game like this under the previous regime. Donovan started out hot but went to ass in crunch time. Jarrett Allen had a rare night of ass (a lot of open looks and missed free throws). Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Ty Jerome brought it home in the 4th quarter.
Kenny Atkinson, man.
Nets would be wise to let Jordi cook and properly rebuild. There is talent there
|
2811438, Kenny Atkinson deserves the flowers Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Sun Nov-10-24 07:26 AM
He got shafted in Brooklyn.
We don’t know yet how good of a game manager he is for playoff basketball but for a regular season coach or for developing players or teams… he’s maybe the first name I call.

Partial participation by star players. Injury, load management or other. The same teams and story lines being pushed week after week. Lack of defense, physicality, and overall competitiveness makes the game boring. Folks are tuning out.

2811532, What did Ballys do Posted by Numba_33, Mon Nov-11-24 01:05 PM
that made you switch to these alternatives?
I suppose this is going off the original topic, but I do wonder when the streaming bubble is going to eventually burst. If and when it does, the league is going to be in for a rude awakening since so much of the profits from the CBA are built from TV deals.

And I'm willing to chalk up the Cavs loss to a let down after getting up the energy to beat the Celtics.
Curry with another boss performance. And Kuminga doing his thing as well.
Now time for a big win during Klay's homecoming.

2811515, Jared McCain's the real deal. Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Nov-11-24 01:21 AM

2811534, Chet fractured hip Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Mon Nov-11-24 01:16 PM
He’s gonna be out at least 10 weeks. Likely a lot longer.
That team was looking good so far so it’s a shame, but given their youth and his, they can’t rush him back here.
Gotta hope Hartenstein can really hold the fort and maybe trade all those assets for something to fill the gap.

but, when I watch him...I honestly feel like EVERY TIME he shoots, it's going to go in. Some of the passes he makes are just....HOW? How did you see him. I've watched him throw a pass before the person he's passing to even realizes he's being passed to. I don't even know what to say anymore. I've never seen anything like him...none of us have.

think i see why Min went after gobert like that back then (relax, that trade still awful).. but is kat *that* bad defensively?? seems like opponents putting 120+ on knicks on reg so far
they move him to 4 when mitch robinson back right?
|
2811622, they have to Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Nov-14-24 12:53 PM
>they move him to 4 when mitch robinson back right?
because opposing bigs are cooking the shit out of dude on defense (really, everyone is).
Mitch is essentially their "Gobert" when they return.
It will also force Thibs to finally shove some people to reserves (Josh Hart).
|
2811713, kat is *awful* defensively and fouls *a lot* Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Nov-17-24 01:33 PM
i've said it before on here but i saw them play in person when i was in Minny for work and all he did was just bitch, lose defensive assignments, and pick up sloppy moron fouls.
the coach and the crowd was SOOOO over his shit that night.
most TWolves games i saw on TV those aspects of his game always stuck out to me and he hasnt improved it yet.
|
2811621, 13-0. the streak goes on but I think it ends soon Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Nov-14-24 12:51 PM
the bigs especially are showing tired legs, and it was tough getting through the Sixers minus their big 3, because as usual... there's always someone shooting the lights out. This time it was rookie Jared McCain and Reggie Jackson (how did I forget he was signed to the Sixers). When the 6ers have their whole team back... that is going to be a very annoying team to deal with. Even their reserve bigs (Yabusele, rookie Bona) are a problem, especially the latter.
Ty Jerome has been the glue when the offense gets broken. What a pickup.
the most ironic part of this is Bray-mond heaping praise on the team based on the one matchup they had with the Warriors. Said the Cavs remind him of the old Warriors teams and was marveling at how much the ball moves.

The Grizzlies could not pull it out in the end, but I did get to see Bron set a record I didn’t know existed, so that was fun.

for the most part outside of the show traveling on the road, it sounds as if the folks behind the scenes will be able to stay on board as well; which is great news.

Like .5/1 game out of 1st place in the West with serious roster challenges (both due to injury and Pelinka's indifference to make changes during the off season).
When Vando/Rui/Hayes/Wood get back into the rotation this team could be in the top tier hunt.
I think we should revisit the post when JJ's hire was made and the lion share here absolutely vilified the hire - or perhaps strike up a "JJ is a very, very good coach, actually" post for nostalgic mad-making and agenda destroying fun.
