If Josh Allen serves up some fun balls we have to take advantage. I think Najee can win this game for us.

Watt is out, but Herbig aint no slouch.

If we find a way to finally win a playoff game we get the Ravens and that is a game we can win. We got that voodoo on Lamar.

2803074, I'm excited
Posted by mista k5, Fri Jan-12-24 05:27 PM
Overall it was a really good season. Cowboys definitely have some flaws and will need to get lucky or fix them to get far. Gonna have to play well Sunday but I do think they get the win.

I'm thinking
Browns
Chiefs
Bills
Cowboys
Lions
Bucs

I can see Lions and Rams being the closest game but Dolphins and Chiefs should be a good one too.

Gonna skip watching that one, don't need to bother with a trial or pay to watch one game. Hoping people skip it so they don't keep doing it but more than likely we will need to get used to more playoff games being behind paywalls.
2803097, Steelers/Bills moved to Monday, 430 pm Eastern

2803168, It’s really not….i went to one of “those” games in Buffalo
Posted by DJR, Sun Jan-14-24 06:09 PM
It was about 5 years ago against the Colts. The weather was nice and pleasant until we got a few miles near the stadium and suddenly all hell broke loose. I think they said the stadium got 18 inches of snow that day, while the Buffalo airport just a few miles away only got 1 or 2.

Those lake effect storms can be crazy - if we knew it was coming we wouldn’t have gone. And I think this one is a far bigger “band” than the one I experienced. Extremely unsafe to have 80,000 people driving in that. It took me 2 hours to drive just a couple miles leaving the game(we left at halftime), and I was highly stressed the whole time. Could barely see, the roads were a mess, and there were cars everywhere.

I was offered free tickets to this game before it was moved and said hell no.
2803100, NFL just fucked my under

2803119, Why are people mad about this again?
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Jan-13-24 07:33 PM

2803129, Newsflash: betting involves risk
Posted by pretentious username, Sat Jan-13-24 10:10 PM
Also, did you automatically lose the bet because the game was moved?
2803134, yes thank you for that completely unknown bit of info
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Jan-13-24 10:30 PM
1) risk of losing isnt the same thing as risk of the parameters of the contest changing after the bet is made. i dont feel like i got cheated, but i caught a shit break.

2) no, but i bet an under, which was highly informed by the conditions. the line for the game didnt move, but the O/U jumped 4pts.
2803138, I just don’t get whining about stuff like this
Posted by pretentious username, Sat Jan-13-24 11:03 PM
>1) risk of losing isnt the same thing as risk of the
>parameters of the contest changing after the bet is made. i
>dont feel like i got cheated, but i caught a shit break.

It’s not likely to happen, but it’s still part of the risk inherent with any sports bet, like a major injury happening between the bet and game time. Or even just the weather changing for the better.

>
>2) no, but i bet an under, which was highly informed by the
>conditions. the line for the game didnt move, but the O/U
>jumped 4pts.

So you’re whining before you’ve even lost the bet.
2803141, its extremely rare for weather to impact a game
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Jan-13-24 11:22 PM
I totally understand why he is upset.

this is considered an “act of God” situation.

and if a star player is injured in practice or early in the game I would also be furious

2803142, a January football game in Buffalo? lmao
Posted by pretentious username, Sun Jan-14-24 12:14 AM
are we certain the snow will be over by Monday afternoon?

>and if a star player is injured in practice or early in the
>game I would also be furious

you can be mad, I just don't get whining about it. Shit happens and that's the risk inherent in any bet. The game hasn't even happened yet. All the people complaining could still win money.
2803144, I think your definition of whining doesn’t allow room to be mad
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-14-24 08:36 AM
lmao
2803147, can you please specifically point out the "whining" in this post?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Jan-14-24 12:26 PM

2803149, “NFL just fucked my under“ sounds pretty whiny to me

So in addition to betting risk, you also don’t understand how replying on a message board works.

offense was at near full health

he was hesitant all game and threw several more interceptable passes that were bad decisions

at the end of the day he's the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys and has a 2-5 playoff record
2803186, Those two picks were bad and put the team way behind
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-14-24 07:14 PM
That pick 6 basically ended this game and it was a terrible read.
2803207, Lmao. What?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-14-24 08:18 PM
The landslide started after all his picks. And he should have had a third redzone int if the defender doesnt have stone hands.
2803248, RE: I know this game I going to be made a referendum on Dak…
Posted by mista k5, Mon Jan-15-24 10:25 AM
The main thing for me with Dak is that teams will scheme to stop him and he won't figure out how to make them pay for it. Most of the time he is great but when a team's plan works we get Dak staring into the horizon. Next level QBs will make the other teams pay. That said, any QB can have a horrible game. Dak just keeps doing it in the playoffs and maybe that can't be fixed.

I do think the first pick was 50/50. I thought the defender grabbed the WR and should had been PI. That second pick was straight up savage. They really should had slowed down a bit and not try to force things. If they had scored on that drive this may have turned into an actual game.

Now the defense was stopping the run early but had two critical penalties that would had ended drives. After that they didn't stop anything.

I do think Dak deserves some blame for not keeping up with them and throwing the picks. That said if they went into half 20-7 and then 20-14 after halftime I didn't have any hope that the defense would stop GB. Even if Dak was perfect the rest of the way it was going to be very hard to win if the defense couldn't stop them. Basically that's what happened except they went into half down 27-7 so it never even turned into a game.

I don't know how they fix this. I can see McCarthy, Dak and DQ all being gone or running it back again. A new coach with a clear vision on what QB to bring in maybe is the way but I don't know who that would be.
2803178, Didn’t think the Cowboys would implode THIS early
Posted by pretentious username, Sun Jan-14-24 07:04 PM
McCarthy HAS to be gone
2803180, Who is trying to hire Dan Quinn? Especially after this?

Posted by Nodima, Sun Jan-14-24 07:22 PM
At least with the NBA you at least get a series out of it so you can pretend there's a competition going on, and in baseball you get legit upsets all the time so more wild cards actually makes it harder for the best teams to make the championship...

But I've been watching all these games since it's -13 outside and without any context at all, they've all been totally pointless (other than I guess the Browns were favorites?)

This game is remarkably physical for two teams whose specialty is their passing game and might be called "finesse" teams.

2803237, the math on the Lions playoff situation has changed dramatically
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Jan-14-24 11:17 PM
next week isnt gravy anymore now that its a home game, and the eagles and bucs dont scare anyone

Cris Collinsworth touched on a salient point for once this year: next week is a "take care of business" home game
2803240, I’m in shock that we get two home playoff games in Detroit.
Posted by soulfunk, Mon Jan-15-24 12:17 AM
2803242, What even is this week?
Posted by Ceej, Mon Jan-15-24 12:41 AM
We had a wings, tigers, pistons run

But this shit this week is fucking nuclear
2803243, Brock Purdy and Dak Prescott have the same amount of playoff wins
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Mon Jan-15-24 12:46 AM
2803245, And there you have it.
Posted by Beezo, Mon Jan-15-24 07:47 AM
2803266, and so it begins.. lol. We need a miracle and some defense
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 05:12 PM
and offense

but this is typical Steelers playoffs lately. Guys running uncovered on easy TD’s and stupid turnovers.

Fat boy Harvin can’t punt it more than 30 yards
2803269, I guess Mike Tomlin threw that pick lol
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Jan-15-24 05:29 PM
2803273, Nope.. but he is the coach of the team that has turnovers
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 05:44 PM
and blown assignments on defense.

we still have time for a miracle but at some point you cant keep blaming everyone but the HC for these playoff performances lately.
2803278, RE: Nope.. but he is the coach of the team that has turnovers
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-15-24 07:29 PM
thats a hard ass line. not much anyone could really say back lmao
2803290, if the coach is never to blame for team performance
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 08:44 PM
how do you give him credit when they win?

2803279, Oh yeah the fumble was his fault good luck with whomever replaces him
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Jan-15-24 07:35 PM
2803288, You talk like we aren't successful at replacing coaches.
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 08:42 PM
He's family.. but t's just time for the next chapter.

happens to all our head coaches.

He will get a gold jacket if he never coaches again.
2803289, .Last 5 playoff games Steelers outscored 66-0 in 1st quarter
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 08:42 PM
.
No excuses.. that's a coaching issue.

2803298, jesus christ
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-15-24 10:35 PM
2803319, last 5 playoff games opponents average 40 ppg
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jan-16-24 08:55 AM
just the facts.. smh.

13 out of 17 years without a playoff win

Its not hate, its reality folks…

Tomlin is getting love for those first 4 years and the Killer B era but overall, not really the results you would think based on the praise he receives the last 7 years without a playoff win.

Anyone else would be fired and roasted in the media for these playoff performances. This isn’t a franchise where you should be happy just to make the playoffs.

Its time
2803272, same shit, different playoffs… lol
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 05:42 PM
D is embarrassing once again.
2803267, That's a fumble and recovery by the Bills

2803277, welp

2803283, mutual breakup would be best
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-15-24 07:48 PM
he is young enough to start a whole second era to his career

16 years is a very long time at a highly demanding job, even if you are successful there is merit to change
2803284, been saying that all year
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Jan-15-24 08:04 PM
every coach been fired at some point its no black mark on Tomlin to get fired too. its time for both sides to move on
2803286, Wouldn't even get fired. We would mutually part ways
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 08:39 PM
or he steps down.

We don't do our head coaches dirty.

2803287, Um if he’s fired I will riot
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-15-24 08:41 PM
2803285, Maybe put Big Dom in at linebacker
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-15-24 08:38 PM
2803293, Lol
Posted by Beezo, Mon Jan-15-24 09:18 PM
2803291, In the playoffs you gotta tackle Josh Allen
Posted by fif, Mon Jan-15-24 09:13 PM
And that ain't easy. Protect the qb rules put defenses in a hard spot against a qb who is un-arm-tackleable. Tough flag against Jack. Transitioning from gearing up to tackle 245lbs to two hand touch? Tough. Playoff Josh is different. 52 yards later you see what I mean.

Offense is right where we need it. Love the young guys getting touches and doing big things: Cook, Kincaid, Shakir.

Defense is a hospital scene. And that was Mason Rudolph.

Rudolph, no TJ...we handled business. Steelers were outmatched, played alright all things considered.

Momentum rolling our way...thank you Steelers...now on to the Chiefs...IN Buffalo. If we gotta score 60, we gotta score 60. Gonna be fun to watch.

Shoutout legs...time to move on from Tomlin? I dont know. He doesnt have the pieces thats for sure. Any thoughts on how it would have went rolling Pickett out there? At least he could have scrambled around some maybe?

Go Bills.
2803294, The INT was bad but the defense really mailed it in
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 09:29 PM
No splash plays on defense and once again, when Minkah returns from being out we have serious communication issues in the secondary.

6-1 in games he missed

4-6 in games he started and 0-5 the last 5 starts with him in the secondary and most of those games had blown coverage with the TE. Maybe not his man but why not? Coaching? Scheme? These TE's been killing us all year.

I think he will get an extension but not sure he takes it. He might be done. I hope so..

Outscored 66-0 in the first quarter of the last 5 playoff games. That's coaching and lack of prep or being outreached and out schemed.

Congrats
2803314, 1-11 without TJ
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Jan-16-24 05:05 AM
That shit's insane
2803315, what is even sadder, this is the least amount of points given up on D
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jan-16-24 06:21 AM
in the last 4 playoff losses..

and it was the first one without Watt.

As great as he is, he isn’t a difference maker in the playoffs.

2803292, I can’t recall a more disappointing collapse/finish to a season than
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Mon Jan-15-24 09:16 PM
this year’s. They played with fire during their 10-1 start, but at least could resemble a decent team for 4 quarters, most games.

These past few months have just been atrocious. Siri or Howie demoted Sean Desai, to promote Patricia - whose defense has been inexplicably much worse. Sure, the back 7 is devoid of talent, but these guys can be serviceable.

The offense has zero excuses. The OL has been healthy. We have a deeply talented group who is severely underperforming. It’s just maddening how stale and predictable they’ve become. I didn’t think it would be possible, but Sirianni is going to be on the hot seat after this historic collapse. At bare minimum, they must hire 2 new coordinators.
2803295, not over yet….

2803296, Baker redemption arc is nice to see
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-15-24 10:07 PM
Guy found the right system to maximize his talent.

It’s the redemption story I’m not sure I needed but here we are lol
2803320, fucking Browns.. lol. They treated Baker like he ruined that org
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jan-16-24 08:57 AM
dude was the first QB to win a playoff game in like 30 years vs the fucking Steelers and they ran him out of town.

Glad to see him win

Browns is the Browns.. lol.
2803326, yup, i've always fucked with Baker.
Posted by PROMO, Tue Jan-16-24 10:15 AM
and there's hella UW guys on Tampa so i'm hoping they do well.

as has been said, the Browns are the Browns.
2803297, Now I’m just mad at Philly
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Jan-15-24 10:34 PM
Robbing me of a good mnf game

The amount of missed tackles is wild to me as an nfl fan. I don’t really watch college ball
2803299, that wasnt acceptable at my high school, much less in college
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-15-24 10:39 PM
thats just a lack of want to
2803300, RE: that wasnt acceptable at my high school, much less in college

That’s cool. . Missed tackles are still a feature in lower levels of football

2803302, Bigger frauds: Cowboys or Eagles?
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Jan-15-24 11:23 PM
2803304, Cowboys. Eagles were sabotaged by coaching.
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Jan-15-24 11:27 PM
Dallas actually looked really good in regular season save a couple games.
2803308, At least Philly made the SB the year before
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Jan-15-24 11:43 PM
coaching turnover def impacted their season this year.
2803313, Cowboys. the Eagles already seemed in trouble
Posted by Mynoriti, Tue Jan-16-24 05:03 AM
going into this weekend

meanwhile Dallas was a paper tiger
2803303, Lavonte played out of his mind tonight
Posted by dillinjah, Mon Jan-15-24 11:27 PM
Glad to finally see a playoff win in person after witnessing Ls past 2 Brady years

As for Detroit, that’s prolly the end of the road. Tonight’s game shoulda been over in the 1st half, but as always way too sloppy
2803306, Dallas gone, Steelers got BUFFALO'D, everyone getting fired in Philly
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Jan-15-24 11:29 PM
things are slowly shaping up.

Need Detroit to win next week at the very least.
2803307, Tampa taking care of business at home...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Jan-15-24 11:40 PM
..slamming the door shut on Philly.

In a rare playoff game without turnovers, the Bucs remained poised.

Many questioned the heart of this team without Brady @ the helm and they responded by going further than his last campaign. Not bad at all.

That said, Detroit is on a mission. Campbell has that team firing on all cylinders. Perfect opportunity to redeem another loss from earlier this season.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
2803311, Is Sirianni's job in trouble?
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Jan-16-24 02:07 AM
2803312, Him and McCarthy might be getting a call on the phone
Posted by calij81, Tue Jan-16-24 02:45 AM
But I think he is given an ultimatum, make changes at coordinate or you are gone.
2803316, it should be. that was beyond malpractice
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Jan-16-24 07:08 AM
the team never looked right from Week 1, but they kept winning. then they ran into teams who figured out how predictable the offense was and how putrid the defense was.

it has all the hallmarks of that 2021 season.

it warrants a firing of everyone responsible.
2803332, it should be
Posted by makaveli, Tue Jan-16-24 02:01 PM
i've never seen anything like this before. they were not as good as 10-1 maybe but there's no way they should be this bad. feels like something was going on behind the scenes. the coaching was just so bad. i was almost like the team was trolling us.
2803377, man, they just need nee coordinators and a full offseason
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jan-17-24 03:49 PM
the superbowl run is a fucking grind.

its why you rarely see teams make it back or even make the playoffs the next year.
