2802494, 2023 NFL Regular Season Week 18: What's the SCENARIOS?!?!?!
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-05-24 12:26 PM
Well, men...we've reached the final week of the regular season. Always a little melancholy for me. It'll be the last time I get to hear Scott Hanson say "SEVEN HOURS OF COMMERCIAL FREE FOOTBALL START...NOW!"...until September. At 7pm Sunday, I'll go into my YoutubeTV menu and cancel the sports package which contains NFL Redzone. Enough of that, though...we got real shit to address. Let's get RIGHT into it.

We got playoff spots up for grabs, we got divisions up for grabs, wild seeding implications, too. These are the latest, hottest clinching scenarios I could find...so please correct me if you've seen something different. Only gonna do clinching scenarios. On to the games, gents:

2802496, am i bad fan if i lowkey want the Seahawks to win...
Posted by PROMO, Fri Jan-05-24 12:44 PM
but also want the Packers to win?

like, we need to miss the playoffs. changes need to be made, and if we make the playoffs, everyone gets their rose colored glasses on and seems to forget about all the warts of the team.

it gives them less of an excuse to jettison Pete Carroll, etc.

i'm fine either way i guess...i just want change.

shit, maybe i'm wrong. knowing my luck they won't ditch Pete win or lose, playoffs or not.
2802497, Nope...I've absolutely had that exact thought...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-05-24 01:05 PM
in that spot. With Jason Garrett.
2802521, I’m just here for the loud and wrong FIRE MIKE TOMLIN takes
Posted by calij81, Fri Jan-05-24 09:57 PM
2802538, Honestly, I hope they do get rid of him
Posted by The Real, Sat Jan-06-24 09:59 AM
So the ungrateful fans can appreciate the job he has done over the years when the team goes to shit. He's had the coach the last 5+ years hiding his QB.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2802542, lmao.. hiding QB’s and losing playoff games the last 6 years
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Jan-06-24 01:28 PM
isn’t impressive as a Steeler fan.

This idea that no one else but Tomlin can have success is fucking weird.

Anything short of a SB appearance won’t change my mind and even then.. I would want him to retire on a high note, not 9 wins and missing the playoffs again.

its been 17 years.. how long do you want him to coach? Forever?
2802543, I want Justin Fields to end up in Pittsburgh or NYJ
Posted by guru0509, Sat Jan-06-24 02:12 PM
w Tomlin as his HC

hopefully the dumbass bears take Caleb Williams and set their franchise back even further

2802545, I think Chicago may keeps Fields

2802535, the Cowboys are better than the Eagles
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Jan-06-24 09:06 AM
but id still rather play the second round in Dallas than outdoors in Philly

the fiasco of last week is gonna reverberate for a while
2802549, Give Clowney that sack!
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Jan-06-24 05:50 PM
2802552, Did Mike Tomlin just secure a playoff spot?!?! That’s good BUT
Posted by calij81, Sat Jan-06-24 07:18 PM
He only won by 10 so they should clearly fire him.
2802553, Calm down.. we still need help
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Jan-06-24 07:25 PM
2802554, They need mad more help...but, they did what they had to tonight

Posted by Amritsar, Sat Jan-06-24 08:54 PM
It wouldn’t be good. And would definitely have some jock acting guest appearances

But I would be in.

2802730, There is a podcast series called The Playcallers on The Athletic
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Jan-08-24 10:06 PM
I still need to listen to it, but the creators centered it around Shanahan, McVay, McDonald, and other coaches in their orbits.

I hear it's worth a listen. It should be available on The Athletic Football Show's feed.
2802558, 5/123 to nico....5/29 to everyone else

Posted by guru0509, Sun Jan-07-24 11:05 AM
it’s fun to watch them shine at the next level

It’s not that complicated ,

well maybe it is for some of you

2802581, Pitt has no problem churning out NFL HOFers
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-07-24 12:45 PM
we just can’t win 10 games a season every year.

just a weird thing to argue about after a game.

Texas Tech alum must be relentless lately
2802582, pointing out how Collins is their best WR =/= arguing
Posted by guru0509, Sun Jan-07-24 01:01 PM
He didn’t say he made CJ what he is , or anything of the sort

your boy just being an antagonistic cunt , per usual .

Also could definitely get used to more of these Saturday nfl regular season games later in the year. They should start doing this earlier because we know the audience would be there.
2802731, They could put NFL games on TV at 5 AM PST and pull 20M viewers
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Jan-08-24 10:08 PM
2802566, CJ Stroud is what Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Jan-06-24 11:19 PM
No more excuses. Lawrence is what he is. Mid-tier QB at best
2802567, My apologies Will, that’s a tough way to lose the game
Posted by calij81, Sat Jan-06-24 11:23 PM
2802570, team isn't built to compete yet
Posted by will_5198, Sat Jan-06-24 11:54 PM
back-up quarterback played 75% of the season and zero corner depth

but the season was successful in that we found out Steichen could coach

Richardson looked dynamic in the games he played, wish we had seen more
2802572, Indy-Houston both trending up
Posted by will_5198, Sat Jan-06-24 11:56 PM
you can see how flawed these teams are right now, in that they are missing the depth and other dynamic pieces all-around to truly compete

but there is a foundation there

difference in the game was one team had their top 5 pick at quarterback and the other one didn't
2802585, announcers calling it a catch when you have to survive the ground?
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-07-24 01:26 PM
they need to overturn that.

Go Titans!!
2802587, Trevor Lawrence doing his part!!!
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-07-24 02:22 PM

2802588, smh.. fucking punter, you have one job.

2802597, Yes

Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Jan-07-24 03:57 PM
his arm simply doesnt have the gears to live up to the hype. it's all "pedal to the medal" throws w/ him

2802600, Jags should trade Trevor Lawrence to a gullible team.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-07-24 04:00 PM
Trade him now while teams still value him. Get a ton of picks or maybe even a 1 or 2 overall and try again. He's not it. He never was. This is who he is. Jacksonville needs to stop waiting for some magical transformation. CJ Stroud doing what he did this year in your own division has to hurt.
2802613, I don’t see him going anywhere
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Jan-07-24 06:02 PM
2802601, Jags disrespected the Terrible Towel. Loss 5 of the last 6 games.

Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-07-24 05:52 PM
It what in the name of Keith Byars is going on with them? Down 24-0 to the Giants. Marcus Mariota in at QB and his FIRST pass is picked off. Tough.
2802614, washed up, no heart, and coach is a dumb goofball
Posted by DJR, Sun Jan-07-24 06:07 PM
2802617, they chose poorly in the offseason, replacing coordinators
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Jan-07-24 06:15 PM
and neither the HC nor the talent can bail them out.

Look at the Steelers. A season full of Ass-Tier QB play.
In the AFC North.
Outpaced by the BROWNS (who went through 4 QBs).
Playoffs.

This team looks worse than the Pats on offense with more talent.
This defense is absolute SHIT-tier. Started out shaky but continually went downwards.

Dallas has tried HARD to bail them out. And the Eagles refuse it.

Everyone getting fired.
2802620, King Henry gave a ‘Mamba Out’ speech on the field at the end of the game.

2802624, It will be interesting to see what the Bears do with that pick
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Jan-07-24 07:00 PM
2802625, if there's a god, Pete Carroll will be fired.
Posted by PROMO, Sun Jan-07-24 07:02 PM
2802630, cant wait for fans to lose Pete and never win again
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-07-24 08:54 PM
you take Pete for granted.. lol

isn’t that how it goes?
2802633, i think you're snarking re: the tomlin narrative...
Posted by PROMO, Sun Jan-07-24 09:29 PM
BUT...call me a weirdo but i'm fine if we lose if pete leaves.

that's part of a reset.

and maybe this makes me more weird but i feel like being MID is worse than being bad. cuz being mid you're just good enough that you're invested enough to be let down again and again.
2802647, Lions fan here...mid means 7 enjoyable sunday experiences
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Jan-07-24 11:39 PM
bad can mean zero
2802626, LOL…Thank you Sam Darnold for sending Matt Stafford to Detroit!!

2802638, He explained it like a G…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-07-24 09:55 PM
also, I really like Jamal Williams and I didn’t realize that was his first TD of the season. Dunno how that’s even possible. He had like 18 TDs last season…played in 5 more games, but still.
2802643, Should be starting imo
Posted by Amritsar, Sun Jan-07-24 10:55 PM
Carr is a rental. And an economy car rental at that
2802646, oh i agree.
Posted by PROMO, Sun Jan-07-24 11:23 PM
i always want Jameis to start regardless of where he's playing.

Carr's salary ain't economy, lol.
2802665, Fuck Arthur Smith and his team full of white tears...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Jan-08-24 09:40 AM
..If Smith wants mercy he should find a job that gives a fuck and learn to do it well.

This is football. You line up each play and attempt to beat the man in front of you, no matter what the circumstances are.

I'm actually happy that was the final play of his career as a head coach.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
2802668, Interview got weird at the end lol. Never understood this thing about
Posted by Cenario, Mon Jan-08-24 10:57 AM
not scoring at the end of games. Shit is goofy.

Running up the score like the pats did in their 16-0 season, sure i get that. And i can understand the frustration/annoyance of seeing the team in victory formation and then running a play...sure. Butyou still got your ass beat, does your ass hurt less if they took knees?
2802679, I thought those stupid honor codes only existed in boring ass baseball
Posted by guru0509, Mon Jan-08-24 01:08 PM
Had no idea NFL coaches prescribed to this dumb shit

lol at the saints coach profusely apologizing like he committed some grave sin lol

corny as hell

>not scoring at the end of games. Shit is goofy.
>
>Running up the score like the pats did in their 16-0 season,

>frustration/annoyance of seeing the team in victory formation

2802672, im surprised anyone accepts any part of that bullshit
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-08-24 11:43 AM
you want to get your guy a TD, then line up and run a play to get a TD that means something

a fake kneel is just hoe shit
2802680, RE: im surprised anyone accepts any part of that bullshit
Posted by go mack, Mon Jan-08-24 03:10 PM
Shannon saying they should cut Jameis today and Stephen A agreed.
2802681, idc if anyone "does" anything about this
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-08-24 03:23 PM
but acting like its not lame is very odd

why wouldnt Jamaal rather get stopped short against an active defense than smash n grabbing some Donald Royal ass TD?
2802683, getting irritated over something this innocuous is also very odd.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Jan-08-24 03:42 PM
who gives a fuck if they got waxed by an extra 7 points. the waxing already happened.

they wanted to get their guy a TD for some reason other than running up the score. it's still on the Falcons to play defense regardless of what the offensive formation looks like.

fuck the Falcons. fuck Arthur Smith. anyone actually mad about this go yell at the sky.
2802688, are you talking about some angry 3rd party im not aware of?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-08-24 05:21 PM
if all the hoe shit in the world actually irritated me i wouldnt be able to leave my house

but being able to identify it is another thing entirely

besides, it potentially aint that innocuous.
its the exact same as someone taking a run on a center after a snap when the QB *does* take a knee. football deals enough damage to people's bodies. now you're gonna signal that youre not hitting, then hit? also hoe shit, and if someone got his leg rolled on you wouldnt be talking that silly sports radio bullshit.
2802687, he's got a ton of personality but
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Jan-08-24 05:09 PM
overall I don't know how I feel about it. if the other team is conceding it cones off kinda shitty. Even if it doesn't ultimately matter.

Mostly it just shows that Dennis Allen isn't respected at all by this team, because Jameis saying we decided to do it this way felt like just as much of a fuck you to Allen as it did to Atl.
2802734, Agreed
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Jan-08-24 10:16 PM
I can't even imagine Jameis doing this while playing for Arians. Can you imagine Hoyer doing this while playing under Belichek? Neither can I.
2802636, AP is the guy. FUCK any other option
Posted by Mynoriti, Sun Jan-07-24 09:48 PM
Fuck this idea that we have to take Harbaugh if he's available, or what ever 'offensive guru' who's out there

Or people acting like the whole AP thing is just a vibe or he's just a cheerleader. Dude changed the entire culture of team and won back a lost locker room damn near literally overnight.
He went 5-4 with a 4th round rookie unknown Qb. Defense has suddenly become top 10. They're (at least as of a cpl weeks ago )the least penalized team in the league

Alot of these so-called grown-ups in the room pushing for a 'real coach' are the same geniuses who were talking about what a great hire McDaniels was

This team is a hunter Renfrow fumble away from being in the playoffs

They can't Bissacia this shit again

2802637, Making playoff games exclusive to Peacock is f**ked up.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-07-24 09:52 PM
Regular season, fine. Is what it is. But now we can't watch playoff games unless we subscribe?
2802639, yeah that sucks
Posted by Lach, Sun Jan-07-24 10:00 PM
I'm not trying to subscribe to anything else.
2802640, I’ve had Peacock for quite a while now and I love it…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-07-24 10:04 PM
but, I’m ngl…if I didn’t, I would cop it for these games. So, I guess it would have worked on me.
2802644, I agree with all this. I’ve had Peacock and I like it
