ranked there. after the top 12 it is a bunch of mediocrity, relatively speaking. they were 14th and 16th headed into the games -- Louisville beat the team ranked between them (Notre Dame) and the 19th ranked team as well (NC State).
there is a much better argument against Iowa, since they didn't beat anybody and looked bad doing it, but the P5 teams ranked below them had 4 losses each and plenty of their own warts.
