I'm not one to whitewash people's existence after passing, so I acknowledge he was an imperfect human being who contributed greatly to some very important causes in my lifetime.

He was barely holding on. Pretty remarkable that he made it to 87 after an NFL career, but he did get out after 8 years, that no doubt extended his life.
He was a complicated individual but aren't we all...
RIP to a legend in many ways.
