2790777, NCAA Softball Tournament
Posted by The Real, Mon May-15-23 11:32 AM
One of my favorite times of year! The tournament is set. I do not see anyone outside of the top 16 national seeds winning it this year. In fact, it's Oklahoma's tournament to lose. Even if Jordy Bahl falls flat on her face, I think Oklahoma's offense is too much for any pitching staff to overcome.

The sleeper team, if you can call them that, is Clemson.

Top 16 National Seeds:

No. 1 Oklahoma (51-1)
No. 2 UCLA (52-5)
No. 3 Florida State (50-8)
No. 4 Tennessee (44-8)
No. 5 Alabama (40-18)
No. 6 Oklahoma State (41-14)
No. 7 Washington (38-12)
No. 8 Duke (45-10)
No. 9 Stanford (40-13)
No. 10 LSU (40-15)
No. 11 Arkansas (38-17)
No. 12 Northwestern (38-11)
No. 13 Texas (42-13-1)
No. 14 Georgia (39-13)
No. 15 Utah (37-13)
No. 16 Clemson (46-9)

2790783, OU is in the middle of a dynasty
Posted by will_5198, Mon May-15-23 12:16 PM
their record is 166-8 over the past three seasons

won 4 of the last 6 national titles

I'd be shocked if any of the top seeds give them trouble in OKC but that's why they play the games

happy for Tennessee, won the regular season SEC title and just won the SEC tournament
2790786, also, one of Lawyer Milloy's daughters is the starting CF
Posted by will_5198, Mon May-15-23 12:18 PM
for Tennessee and leads the country in homers (Kiki Milloy)
2790787, more OU stats:

2792168, Super Regionals start tonight
Posted by The Real, Thu May-25-23 11:17 AM
Oklahoma looks too dominant.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2792398, OU is a damn machine
Posted by will_5198, Mon May-29-23 12:30 AM
down 7-4 to Clemson with one strike left in the 7th, cranked a three-run homer to tie then won it the next inning
2792403, Cagel made a stupid pitch
Posted by The Real, Mon May-29-23 05:52 AM
That was probably one of the dumbest 0-2 pitches you could throw. You need to make the batter chase, not give her something belt high, down the middle.

I don't see anyone beating OU at this point. Their lineup is just too deep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2792410, felt bad for her
Posted by will_5198, Mon May-29-23 12:20 PM
not sure who called a freaking riseball at that point but it had the biggest margin for error, like you said
2792399, VOLS
Posted by will_5198, Mon May-29-23 12:34 AM
first WCWS in seven years and eight overall

Texas was super sloppy defensively, young team, and Tennessee has been locked in these past two weekends (5-0, 42 runs scored, 6 runs allowed)

tough draw being in Oklahoma's side of the bracket but anybody who wants to win the title will have to go through them at some point
2792404, RE: VOLS
Posted by The Real, Mon May-29-23 05:53 AM
I've gone to watch the Vols in person the last two years while on vacation in Tennessee. They are the ONLY hope of beating OU but I don't know if Rodgers has two of those games in her arm.

Offensively, they go as Kiki goes. She's a beast.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2792409, yeah, it would have been nice

if the freshman Pickens hadn't ended the year so shaky, as you need every arm available against OU's lineup -- Gottshall has actually pitched better than Rodgers this postseason but the latter has faced OU before and is still the number one

>Offensively, they go as Kiki goes. She's a beast.

lineup was scuffling a bit at times and they left a lot of runs on the board, but they came through when needed
2792646, Tune in, boys! Today's slate....
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Jun-01-23 06:50 AM
Alabama
Tennessee

Stanford
Oklahoma

OK State
FSU

Utah
Washington
2792812, nice start for the Lady Vols
Posted by will_5198, Fri Jun-02-23 01:00 PM
offense came through and it is always nice to beat bama in games of importance (bama made a ton of mistakes)

Stanford's freshman pitcher Canady was really impressive against OU, but their offense is horrible

Vols-Sooners tomorrow, might as well see what you are made of now
2792898, love Weekly but she messed this one up
Posted by will_5198, Sun Jun-04-23 01:01 AM
really no reason to send Pickens out there when she has lacked confidence all postseason, then not even throw Tennessee's top two pitchers in relief...what was the point of that suicide mission?

whole team seemed shook by her decisions and were hacking away (no hits after the first)

when dynasties like OU reach this point, opposing teams start coaching and playing outside themselves due to fear -- exactly what Tennessee did
2793031, Can the Seminoles do the (seemingly) impossible?
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Jun-06-23 02:49 PM
.
2793032, no
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jun-06-23 03:00 PM
not even a reverse jinx but Oklahoma has won every way possible and they already faced their toughest pitcher of the year when they beat Stanford's Canady twice

FSU is a normal year's national championship team but Sooners depth will wear them down if it gets to the third game

but hey, hoping for a great series
2793163, gonna be a fun night...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jun-07-23 05:09 PM
FSU/OU 7 Central
Nuggets/Heat 730 Central

Got the 2 tv setup going and plan to have a couple of pours of Buffalo Trace (good looking, Spenzalli)
2793191, Smh…these weather delays
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jun-07-23 08:27 PM
.
2793220, FSU had a chance to put some runs up and OU wiggled out of that jam
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jun-07-23 10:06 PM
.
2793225, They didn’t have to live long to regret it….2-0 Oklahoma
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jun-07-23 10:18 PM
.
2793233, 4-0…this shit over…you not getting 4 runs off OU at this point
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jun-07-23 10:39 PM
.
2793242, not that it mattered in the end, but some questionable calls
Posted by will_5198, Wed Jun-07-23 11:33 PM
by blue in the second inning
2793243, stop with the pitching change madness
Posted by will_5198, Wed Jun-07-23 11:36 PM
put your ace out there against the Lady Sooners and see what happens

Tennessee and FSU throwing their kitchen sink of little-used pitchers against Oklahoma, on some big-brain shit, has been agonizing to watch
2793261, RE: stop with the pitching change madness
Posted by The Real, Thu Jun-08-23 08:26 AM
Yeah, these coaches are trying to be cute. It drives me nuts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2793272, Tony LaRussa thought she should have chilled, lol
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Jun-08-23 09:44 AM
.
2793270, i watched the last inning last night and idk if the ump was ready to go...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Jun-08-23 09:36 AM
or what but that OU pitcher had a helluva strike zone she has to be unhittable if she consistently gets that lol
2793324, The OU strike zone been different all tournament
Posted by The Real, Thu Jun-08-23 04:01 PM
Just watch the Stanford/OU game. Canady wasn't getting shit while the OU pitchers were getting an extra couple inches.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2793341, 6 titles in 10 years
Posted by The Real, Thu Jun-08-23 09:46 PM
I don't see this slowing down.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2793349, their biggest battle is now the win streak
Posted by will_5198, Thu Jun-08-23 10:54 PM
the pressure of being dominant can be draining

but yeah -- top three hitters are juniors, Bahl only a sophomore, Gasso will hit up the transfer portal again -- this train has plenty of track left
2793693, Jordy Bahl entering the portal
Posted by The Real, Tue Jun-13-23 02:54 PM
Rumor has it she is transferring to Nebraska.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2793702, crazy
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jun-13-23 08:22 PM
I understand it is her home state so I get it from that perspective
