Warriors @ Kings (game 7).

Fox & Murray have something to prove. Meanwhile, the Splash Bros are hell bent on defending the title.

I meant to do all this yesterday, but the day got away from me.

Denver looks like the Juggernaut with Jokic & Murray shutting down the Phoenix in game 1.

Heat @ Knicks has all the ammunition and agendas to reignite that classic rivalry from the 90s, complete with Riley scowling from the suite.

Let's get it.

Posted by Castro, Sun Apr-30-23 07:20 PM
The 'wall' around Brunson meant terrible passing angles and he couldn't fade or step under towards the rim. He is going to have to play off the ball a bit and have Grimes/IQ/Hart and Obi attacking.

Obi will have to stay home and crash the boards with Mitch. On the flip, Hart and company will have to get back instead of crashing the offensive glass when Love is on the floor to prevnt those baseball passes.
2788772, While I'm not his biggest fan, Randle coming back
Posted by Numba_33, Mon May-01-23 11:12 AM
should provide an added wrinkle to the Knicks offensive half-court sets, especially if he attacks in the mid or low post. Attract some double teams and look to move to ball to open areas on the court similar to how he was in the first half against Cleveland in Game Five before he got hurt.

I wonder if Spo will look to put Bam on him in the mid to low post; that could free up Mitchell Robinson to get offensive rebounds since Bam won't be able to defend Randle and box out Robinson.

I'd love to the refs to call some of the blatant fouls Brunson is getting as dude was working his tail off to get into the paint in the second half. I'm curious how he'll adjust in the half court as I'm not sure if Thibs is capable of running off the ball sets like you described in your response, but I hope I'm proved wrong in that regard.
2788724, Malik Monk and Fox are so well spoken, especially Fox!

2788726, Steph Curry the greatest player of this Era hands down
Posted by allStah, Sun Apr-30-23 10:42 PM
- Changed the game
- conquered Lebron
- and is in position to possibly win his 5th title..all with the
same team that drafted him with basically the same core players.

Sorry, Vex . Not only is your man not the GOAT, he ain’t even the goat of his
own era.

Steph has been styling on him since forever
2788737, Steph is the greatest PG of his era for sure
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 06:23 AM
Arguably the greatest PG of all time. It's him or Magic. But lol @ Steph being ranked higher than Bron all-time. Only Bron haters (or Dubs Stans) would ever say that. Nobody who objectively has observed and analyzed the sport would ever make such a claim.

and how has Steph been "styling" on LeBron when LeBron has outplayed him in *every series* they've competed in? Lol c'mon bro this is a sad take even for you.

You're making the simple simon mistake of conflating the greatest team w/ the greatest player. Steph has been on the superior team time and time again vs. LeBron. In fact, this will be the 5th time that LeBron's team has been the underdog in the post-season vs. Steph's team. Steph hasn't even been the best player on his own team in some of those series, let alone the best player in the series - which has always been LeBron James.

Steph being as great as he is provides further testimony to how elite the LeBron era has been. Kobe, Duncan, Steph, Kawhi, Giannis, KD etc etc

Did Jordan ever face a dynasty in the Finals as elite as the Duncan/Kawhi/Manu/Parker Spurs or the KD/Steph/Klay/Draymond Dubs?

LeBron has played the better competition, hands down.

Cry about it.
2788745, damn steph curry has won 85% of his playoff series!
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 09:20 AM
23-4 all time.

mj - 81%
magic - 80%
lebron - 78%
kobe - 77%
kareem - 75%
bird - 72%
shaq/kd - 71%

add to that he hasnt lost a single playoff series in the west since the 2014 season (kerr became coach).

meanwhile you have mvp caliber dudes getting swept and gentleman swept in the 1st and 2nd round.

steph might end up being the post-jordan goat fam.
2788750, once again - conflating team success v. individual success
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 09:56 AM
It's interesting how we're just glossing over the fact that KD was by far the best player on the team during their back-to-back chips. Taking nothing away from Steph - but you can't just gloss that over and act like Steph was the driving force in those two finals. Also, the year Iggy won Finals MVP, Steph underperformed and was actually quite average for a large part of that series.

His shining moment for sure was last year when he had a breakthrough Finals, and let's give him his flowers, but not with the revisionist history here that doesn't contextualize his championships properly.

-->
2788752, the problem is you remove team success from individual success.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 10:03 AM
you completely dismiss the final results as a metric and whether a players individual success correlated with wins.

thats the most important context of all fam.

and steph is up 3-1 on bron.

and has as many chips as bron in the 'bron era' lol.

this is getting worse for bron the more i think about it and go back and revisit brons career *in context* (as you put it).

2788756, it isn’t.. Steph has always been surrounded by more talent
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon May-01-23 10:17 AM
this is probably the first year Bron may have more talent around him.
2788759, i love how wade, kyrie, bosh, and love somehow become bums
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 10:31 AM
in these debates.

3 of those dudes have more all star appearances than anyone steph played with and love has just as many as klay.

2 of them are top 75 players (while steph played with 0).

and bron didnt have less talent than the spurs and dallas and still lost to them.
2788762, go ahead and look at Wade's performances in those last 2 finals
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 10:35 AM
in Miami. Really, the last 3 years. Wade unfortunately was hampered with injuries - but he wasn't at all the 2006 D. Wade who had one of the greatest Finals performances of all time. Wade's star had faded so much by 2010 that the Heat barely were in the playoffs and were getting swept as the 8th seed before Bron came in.

But it's simple: take Steph off the Warriors and put him on the 2013/2014 Heat with an injured Wade. Do the Heat even get to the Finals?

Put Steph on the 2016 Cavs and put Bron on the 2016 Warriors. Do the Cavs even make the ECF?

You know the answer. Stop fronting.
-->
2788771, you know youre losing when you gotta resort to espn hypotheticals lol.

>Do the Cavs even make the ECF?

2788767, this is bullshit!
Posted by allStah, Mon May-01-23 10:55 AM
Bron had Kyrie and Love ( 25/12 allStar), one of the
best defensive players on the planet in Shump and a rebounding
machine in Thompson!

Had Bosh/wade with Heat…superstars at their position that he recruited.

Then he went to the lakers and brought in one of the greatest post
players to ever play and top 75!

Steph has played with basically the same players …who were
all drafted by the Warriors. Steph- Klay- Green
2788768, Then why is this the 5th time Bron's team has been the underdog
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 10:56 AM
against a Steph team?

They all got it wrong and only the wisdom of allstah got it right?

Or maybe you're just lathered in hate?

This actually is a perfect case of revisionist history - that being - that Bron was the "poster boy" or "creator of superteams".

They just spun that narrative because people got mad & sad that he left Cleveland for Miami.

But he did it in part because of the Celtics created a *superteam* fam. They had 4 all-stars 3/4 hall of famers and Bron was riding w/ Mo Williams and Ilgauskas. So in that particular era it was the Celtics who were the "poster boys" of the new superteam. But people also conveniently omit the fact that the Showtime Lakers was a Superteam (with arguably 2 top 5 all time greats!). The Celtics? Superteam. Pistons? Superteam. Bulls? Superteam. Kobe/Shaq Lakers? Superteam. All of those teams were more stacked than the Bron/Wade Heat.

Bron ain't the "poster boy" for the Superteam. No great teams/dynasties ever become that without being super teams, period.

>All of those teams were more stacked than the Bron/Wade Heat.

Every team you mentioned were teams that were built by those organizations.

As far as Boston, those stars were aging.

No one was mad Bron left the Cavs. Its just the the alleged best player in the game ran to Miami and...yes...built a super team.

I know you need to shit on Wade to make your point, but there were legit questions if it was even Bron's team.

Bosh was no slouch. And that team was deep. And well coached (too bad Bron can't buy into a system, or he'd have a few more rings in Miami)

You can't compare the Heat to those teams you mentioned. For the right comparison, you have to do a hypothetical.

Like...say...MJ IN HIS PRIME going to Houston and bringing fucking Stockton with him or some shit.

Or Isiah IN HIS PRIME running to team up with Magic.

Etc.

It just isn't the same. Bron started this bullshit AAU era and now all that matters is rings. Just get a ring. No matter how you do it, get a ring. (and he had his eye on this for a while...that Dream Team 2 documentary has him salivating at the idea of teaming up with dudes rather than beating them)

Opened the door for KD to run to GS. Shit is corny, and your boy normalized it.

This where I also remind you of a few facts-

Even at that, the Heatles got upset by Dirk and the corpse of Jason Kidd, got their asses kicked by the Spurs, and were a few bad coaching decisions by Pop away from losing 3 of 4.

You also said somewhere in here that Bron is the most accomplished player of all time.

Not sure why you do that, but this is objectively not true. Like...math still maths. MJ, Kareem, Russel, Kobe, Duncan, Magic, etc all could argue otherwise. And an argument for Steph.

Shiit...look at what Duncan accomplished. With the same organization. With the same system. And no superstar help. And kicked your guy's ass a couple times.

Lebron is one of the greatest players ever...he doesn't need you inventing your own reality to win some agenda in your head.

And guess what? Bron is the best player of his era. But its a lot closer than you'll ever admit.

2789090, lol @ "there were questions whether it was Bron's team" in Miami
Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-04-23 08:49 AM
I can't believe you're still doing this.

There were zero questions of whose team it was in Miami. Bron never will be a Heat lifer like Wade, but nobody in their right mind thought Wade was the guy that made that team go. Like I said, Wade being the guy in Miami led them an 8th seed and swept in the first round - or not even making the playoffs at all in the years prior to Bron's arrival. Then he got injured and was a shell of his former self for the better part of those 4 years when Bron & Wade teamed up. Further facts/evidence substantiating this: Bosh & Wade didn't even make the playoffs the year after LeBron left.

Wade wasn't that guy at that stage of his career.

Also - LeBron wasn't born into a privileged org like Magic, Bird, Kobe, Zeke etc. They didn't have to leave their teams because their org surrounded them with all-time great teams and hall of famers. LeBron didn't have that in Cleveland so he had to chart his own way and trailblaze. But lol at you taking offense to him manifesting his own way and jux'ing league owners to claim his labor rights. Such a weird thing to be mad about.

Finally, the guys you listed about being allegedly more accomplished than LeBron? You're citing team accomplishments. I'm talking about individual accomplishments. LeBron holds essentially the lion-share of individual stat dominance throughout his career - both in the regular and post-season. So yes, he is the most accomplished individual player the game has ever seen.

Love injured early in the playoffs

and AD is good.. when healthy, and you poo poo his last chip due to the bubble

Are you really going to ignore Iggy and KD in 2 of Stephs chips?
2788747, btw bron has *lost* to lesser competition hands down.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 09:29 AM
or at least lost to teams he shouldnt have or lost worse than he should have.

he lost to a dallas team with jason terry as the 2nd best player (and averaged more points than lebron in the series!).

he got gentleman swept by an old ass spurs team he beat a year before. and almost lost to them the year before if it werent for a miracle ray allen 3 and tim duncan just running out of legs and missing layups in the final game.

this debate is making me remember some of lebrons colossal post season failures. they kinda got buried under all of the hero worship of the last few seasons and i forgot about them.
2788760, tf? The dynasty Spurs who won 5 'chips are "lesser comp"?
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 10:32 AM
Not like this fam.

Yea - Bron's loss to Dallas was a blemish - but let's not act like Dirk and that team were trash. That was a very, very good team that swept Kobe and destroyed the stacked Thunder in 5 games. But yea Bron didn't play up to his standard in year 1 in Miami where there was a clear power dynamic at play w/ him and Wade (despite Lebron dominating the EC playoffs and routing MVP Rose and the top seeded Bulls).

After that Dallas series? All LeBron did was reel off the arguably the most accomplished individual dominance of a decade-long run the game has ever seen - going to the Finals every year regardless of who is on his team, becoming the only player in nba history to win 3 'chips w/ 3 diff. teams while being Finals MVPs on all those teams.

But ironically, you're criticizing that but failing to acknowledge that Steph had *multiple* bad Finals performances and was only the best player in the Finals in *1* of those series.

How many times has Lebron James been - unequivocally - the best player in the Finals - win or lose?

It ain't even close fam. Steph's not in Bron's class.

-->
2788769, do you just read the parts of the reply you want to?
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 10:57 AM
how you just ignore the '...or at least lost to teams he shouldnt have or lost worse than he should have.'

lebron only winning 1 game in a finals is losing worse than he should have even if you thought the spurs were the better team.

btw thats something steph never did. he got 2 games off toronto with no kd except for 10 minutes 1 game, and came down to the wire in game 6 with klay missing the entire 4th.

2788776, I'm not the one ignoring Steph's Finals history/performances
Posted by Vex_id, Mon May-01-23 11:26 AM
and acting like the Warriors weren't a stacked dynasty to where Steph wasn't even the best player on the team (let alone the best player in the Finals) for the lion-share of his Finals appearances.

This "Steph is the GOAT post-Jordan" take won't age well fam. But hey, at least you got all-stah to back you up.

-->
2788736, Figured the Warriors would win in 6. Was only a game off
Posted by mrhood75, Mon May-01-23 02:48 AM
And Steph definitely gave an all-time Game 7 performance. The game and the story of the pep talk before is going to go down as stuff of legend.

I don't mind this Kings team. They'll be really tough in the future. Mike Brown is a G. Fox has seemingly figured things out. Sabonis' stock is down, but the other younger players are looking strong.

Happy we're moving on with the play-offs. And happy that I can stop rooting for the Lakers, which made me soul itch. It's sort of a trip that the Warriors have played them in the play-offs for like 30 years. Regardless, this is definitely the least hate-able version of the Lakers in quite a while. Though I must say that this year's version of LeBron is my least favorite. Faux basketball sage, aspiring mogul LeBron is unbelievably corny, if still highly skilled on the court. I do like that he told Elon to fuck off.

Hoping we take the series. Part of me thinks it doesn't really matter, since whoever wins is likely going to be bounced by the Nuggets. They look REALLY good. But I'll enjoy the ride until it's over. It's not like we really have much to prove anymore.
2788738, So now LeBron is a “faux basketball sage”?

2788740, ppl need to stop bringing up kd & giannis as best player in the league.
Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 07:15 AM
kd is team hopping on squads with elite talent on the top shelf and his recent record is:
- lost in the 1st round in the only sweep last playoffs
- complete team collapse mid season this year
- about to get put out the 2nd round this year
- still hasnt made it out the 2nd round post-gs

giannis bought himself some leeway with a title but he has some massive flameouts in the postseason too (prolly the reason he didnt win 3 straight mvps).

late career steph is dominating series and carrying a team of inconsistent role players to higher ground. more than anyone else in the league mentioned among the 'best players in the league'...steph gives his team the best chance of actually winning when it matters most.

Posted by allStah, Mon May-01-23 10:15 AM
Giannis lost Middleton last year, and nearly took the Bucks to the championship
by himself.

And then this year he got injured and missed 3 of the 5 games against the
Heat.

Stop it.

What were the Warriors, when Stef was without Klay…any WCF appearances…
Any first place finishes or best records….

Naw, they were trash.

Middleton missed a chunk of this season… and the Bucks stayed rolling

Warriors were ass for most of the season, and shit on the road, and they were
taken to 7 games by a team that was a bottom dweller last season.

Giannis was the best player of the regular season with the best team
of the regular season.

Let’s keep things in perspective now.

I love Steph, but he ain’t up for MVP…because he didn’t have that kind
of season.
2788761, was i hallucinating when i saw giannis in 2 full games against the heat?

Posted by Reeq, Mon May-01-23 11:13 AM
kuminga didnt get much tick because he played like doo doo when kerr put him in earlier in the series...even in a win. he is a good on the ball defender but doesnt do anything else well. hes a horrible rebounder, horrible screener, subpar help defender, bad decision maker with the ball, and an ok cutter to the rim every now and then. its just hard for kerr to trust him with a lot of time in such high stakes games.

its pretty amazing steph still continues to win while having to babysit these immature/erratic young players who he cant even count on to merely not be self destructive from game to game.

imagine having to win a 7 series dogfight with poole throwing childish temper tantrums and tripping on his own feet...and kuminga sulking about playing time...with both of them being putrid in the minutes they play but still thinking theyre entitled to star treatment.

2788782, I lean heavy toward Reeq’s takes. Particularly the Lakers
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon May-01-23 11:35 AM
I think this Lakers team is capable- but AD needs to be consistent and show ip on both sides, every game.

Nobody on the team is consistent game to game so far, and that’s a concern.

What I will say is, someone tends to show up big every game, we just don’t know who.

One game it’s D Lo, another it’s Reaves, or Rui.

I think that’s a dangerous proposition, because it can be feast or famine with that.
This Warriors team has it’s own problems though.

I think this series comes down to which is greater and more consistent:

AD’d defense, or Steph’s offense.

I also think the Cali travel schedule benefits Bron a great deal, given his age.

But GS’ ability to still get white hot at a moment’s notice is still something to be feared.

If AD shows up on both ends, every game though?

Lakers in 7, and yeah, there’s a bit of homer bias there.

we have the ability to slow it down an grind out old school wins, and I think that’s what we’ll have to do.
2788800, AD has to show up and show out
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon May-01-23 02:09 PM
2788785, This is probably the last Bron/Steph matchup right?
Posted by Ryan M, Mon May-01-23 11:45 AM
I mean, anything can happen of course - but given Brons age and mileage and the big question marks around the Warriors this offseason…it’s entirely possible we never get to see these two match up again.

So, while I’m obviously rooting for one side, I’m going to enjoy the shit out of this. It’s going to be a dogfight.

I don’t LOVE the fact AD is going to have to be on the same court as Dray, if I’m being honest. I also have huge concerns over the supporting cast and their inconsistencies. Having to rely on Rui, AR, or/and DLo to win a playoff game isn’t exactly a relaxing thought. But I think Vando/Dennis will be able to chase Steph around as much as anyone can and at least pester him a bit.

My emotion-free take is the Warriors SHOULD win this one, especially with home court. But I’m hoping for something special.
2788792, hope it goes 7

They got two stars who can go the fuck off (Jamal had a rough game last night but he's back), a couple of individual players who are just difficult to guard in MPJ and Gordon, role players, long defenders....they are the most complete team remaining, IMHO (followed closely by Boston)

2788878, Not sure how being closer means they are favored.
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue May-02-23 12:35 PM
just means both teams took care of business first round.

and while both the Lakers and the Dubs needed 6 and 7 games they beat higher seeds.

I think vet leadership makes both teams more dangerous than Phoenix.

While I have little faith in Phoenix game 3 will tell a lot. If the Suns can hold their own on home court I think they can grab a game in Denver.

They almost got one last night. CP3 tho.. he knows how to spoil a good thing in the playoffs.

Because it does seem wildly unprofessional to say that about one of your players, and it also seems like a very strange thing to editorialize.

Dillon's a clown, but he didn't do anything illegal. As funny as I think this is...that's a big red flag for Memphis if they actually came out and said that.

Kerr is without a doubt a huge advantage here. Of course.

Ham has had growing pains, and has made a lot of mistakes - but ultimately, this team has played hard for him all year - even pre trades, even with all the losing. Him having that trust is incredible. He’s making less mistakes, adjusting when need be, and in general seems to be trending toward a good coach.

This isn’t a surprise

He’s not like this every game

But he’s like this enough that he needs to be respected

One of my concerns is that nobody is really “on” on an every game basis (apart from AD on D) but it can work to our advantage in that someone usually shows up big each game. We just don’t know who until it happens.

But D Lo is one of those guys often enough

28/19/5 / 3 blocks..

Wilt Davis…one of the greatest bigs to play the game and he was a 6’4 guard
in HS…

Looney and Draymond are going to have their hands full.

Draymond not being able free flow and being forced to focus more on defense is hurting
what GS likes to do ..He has 4 fouls and it is affecting his game .. you don’t see
him initiating the offense as much in this game

AD is doing it all!
2788958, one thing warriors gonna have to figure out if they wanna win...
Posted by PROMO, Tue May-02-23 11:19 PM

Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Wed May-03-23 12:17 AM
He's a typical young phenom who doesn't know his limitations. His swagger is based more on hubris than experience.

That's fine... if he played on Detroit or OKC.

But on a team with legit championship aspirations, his mental lapses on defense, the tasteless shot selection, and his lack of consistency are potentially damning to GS's playoff chances.

Fatigue from coming off a 7 game series, and playing too much Looney and Green at the
same time..their lineup in the 4th quarter got them back in it and should be their main
line up for most of the series.

Warriors in 7.

Lebron is old and it is showing. He can’t go for a whole game strong and he can’t shoot…

Lakers will need monster games from AD every game…

Posted by allStah, Tue May-02-23 11:56 PM
I wouldn’t say they were fresh..there is a difference. I’m talking the whole
game

Thomason 9-25
Curry 10-24

On fresh bodies and rest they don’t miss like that ..those shots weren’t sharp or
strong to me…they had more urgency in the 4th quarter to get back in it….

but they weren’t sharp at all

A truly fresh and well rested warriors team would have won this game.
2788992, lebron and a.d. played 40+ minutes. it showed in the 4th.

Lebron AND AD, barring a miracle just gonna get worse playing those kinda minutes. they played to exhaustion tonight, and because of the Lakers make-up, they'll have to play that way every game.

and, as they almost always do, i expect to the Dubs to make the necessary adjustments.

like, outside of good 3 point shooting from klay, poole and steph, the warriors didn't seem to play that well in my book and they still coulda won the game.

Thompson shooting 36%

And curry shooting 41 % will not repeat itself….and going more with the lineup
they had in the 4th quarter will be implemented.

I expect the warriors to come out strong and fierce with a strong ass win.

the blame should be on kerr for letting steph take the ball up on that last possession to get doubled, or on steph himself for keeping it too long so that they could double vs. passing it, moving and getting it back, cuz once the double came? poole really don't have no choice but to shoot it.
2788997, It was an open shot for a reason. It was a ridiculous shot that was
Posted by allStah, Wed May-03-23 01:13 AM
too soon and too far.

I like Poole, but it was an illogical shot, especially since they had the momentum.
There were 8 seconds on the clock when he took that shot.

2788999, they didn't have the momentum.
Posted by PROMO, Wed May-03-23 01:27 AM
they were down by 3 and needed a 3 to tie. he got a wide open look at a 3.

steph is doubled, klay is tightly guarded. he's WIDE open. that's not a bad shot for him he's WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE open.

and he actually took it with 10 seconds but if you're that open and you have his 3 point making ability? you shoot that. saw some people saying take a dribble closer but it looked like a dribble in would have given Vanderbilt a GOOD chance to block it.

it's not even bad he shot it with TEN seconds actually because if you miss there's still time left in the game to find another way (which they almost got by forcing a jumpball on the the Schroeder rebound) vs. passing up a wide open look to....i guess find steph or klay to shoot one at the buzzer IF you can find them and they can get a shot off, and if they miss the game is DEFINITELY over?

nah, poole just taking heat cuz he's boneheaded AT TIMES and he missed. if he makes it everyone is on his dick (for tonight).

not sure who dude is in the bottom box but he got it right:

https://twitter.com/ClutchPointsApp/status/1653627637594746881

2789000, They did have the momentum in the 4th quarter. The lakers
Posted by allStah, Wed May-03-23 01:56 AM
were on their heels. They were collapsing and the Warriors were surging. They
had all the momentum…Warriors were on 14-0 run in that quarter!
The last what 3 mins of the 4th was all Warriors. They outsourced the
lakers in the 4th

All Poole had to do was dribble in some, and it would have still been a 3 pt
shot. He took a desperation shot with 10 seconds left, meaning he had more
time to get a better 3pt shot. And the fact he had a defender flying in on him, a
pump fake, dribble in some, and he would have had a clear, uncontested 3 pt shot.

Like the announcers stated and the TNT crew it was a TERRIBLE shot …terrible shot.
That is why people are furious with him.

Look at that shot. 10 seconds on the clock. That was a bad shot all the way around

https://youtu.be/KNIpnypf0jE

He gets the pass and just chucks it.. he didn’t process anything, just threw it up as if
1 second is left on the clock.

sure he could've stood 1-3ft closer to arc, but maybe that causes..bron? to close out earlier to contest.

steph was completely draped, that was their best option--im not mad at it either looking at the replay again

2789001, imo dubs should make it as tough as possible on a.d. early on.
Posted by Reeq, Wed May-03-23 02:00 AM
make him get the ball as far away from the basket as possible, double him, etc. even if it means somebody else gets loose.

and be physical as fuck with him. chip/re-route him on his cuts. have guys throw their butts into his legs when hes standing around. just make it as dirty as possible for him so his mind is never settled.

i could be wrong. but from what i've seen of a.d...if he doesnt get comfortable and catch a rhythm early...it can fuck with his confidence/focus and affect his effort for the rest of the game.

and judging by tonight...i dont think the lakers can win without monstrous a.d. games. even as good as their d is (pause).

i think the warriors hit on something with that zone in the 4th too. i saw a.d. settle for a 3 and deep 2 at the top of the key off that. and missed both.
2789002, But then he will use his guard like skills
Posted by allStah, Wed May-03-23 02:22 AM
This is where the Warriors will have issues because like Chuck said,Looney and
Draymond don’t have the foot speed to stay with him, and leaving Dray on
AD is just going to get him in foul trouble.

Wiggins has the athleticism and speed, but doesn’t have the height, and you need
him on Lebron.

They would probably be better off going zone, because the lakers aren’t a great
shooting team…keep him out of the paint and just force everything outside…
force the lakers to play from the outside

If Curry and Thompson weren’t off on their shots, Warriors win this game easily.
They both shot like shit.

Warriors don’t have a single person who can guard AD…throw a Zone at his ass is
the best way to contain him in my opinion
2789003, im cool with a 7 footer putting the ball on the floor
Posted by Reeq, Wed May-03-23 03:16 AM
to get in the paint.

gives the dubs more opportunities to poke the ball loose like they did with tatum and brown in the finals last year.
2789004, This is true.

2789088, he had one of his best 3-point shooting years as a Laker
Posted by Vex_id, Thu May-04-23 08:39 AM
and usually a jumper is the last thing to go when one ages up - so I don't think it's crazy to think that LeBron can and will shoot the 3 ball better. He certainly can't shoot much worse than he's presently shooting.

Let's see what happens - but my bet is that he starts to shoot the 3 more efficiently as these playoffs continue.

when the Lakers started pulling away.

This Laker team is a bad matchup. AD owned the paint until late in the 4th qtr.

Lakers playing volleyball with the Dubs floaters.

I know they are all about the 3 ball but if you don’t drive and get some fouls its going to be a quick series.

Will be interesting seeing what adjustments are made for game 2.

they could muster to deal with the Warriors, and they only won by a few points?

Lebron is old and AD’s body holding up to bang every game is highly questionable.

Steph and Klay were just off….coming off that 7 game series.

I like the dubs for their endurance, constant movement, and being the faster team.

Lakers are going to have to play at a high energetic level every game…

For the warriors this is their everyday play…

Lakers ain’t going to be able to keep up with that all series…like Sactown( due to their
youth)

seriously some of the worst analysis this season has come from stephen jackson, gilbert arenas, paul pierce, kevin garnett, etc. just no understanding of how the modern nba game is being played or why it evolved to be that way.

theyre also starting to become like grumpy 'old media' ex players shaq, chuck, etc...where a lot of their takes are them just tryna prop up their generation as better basketball players than the current generation.

like one of the most idiotic takes ive heard all year was gilbert arenas saying players arent in good shape like they were in his era because the guards dont run as much distance. because they shoot more 3s and dont drive to the rim as much. nevermind all the off the ball movement, multiple actions each possession instead of straight iso ball, increased pace, increased possessions, etc...then also having to play defense against all that, cover the entire court starting 10 feet above the 3 point line, etc.

just imagine watching todays game and coming to the conclusion that the players are in worse shape and dont run as much. that should get you banned from all platforms lol.

exactly
2789052, Actually they are telling the truth
Posted by allStah, Wed May-03-23 01:52 PM
Most teams don’t run half court offenses. They play 4 and 5 and out, where it’s
catch and shoot. GS are an exception to that play because of Steve Kerr, and how
he played in the Bulls and Spurs offense.

Go watch old pistons video under Larry Brown, and look at the constant motion of that
offense or Reggie Miller with Indiana. Teams don’t move like that. Hell, go watch old
footage of the Spurs and watch how many sets they ran, because Pop wasn’t with that
iso stuff

Also, players are in worse physical shape than ever before. ESPN already did a story on this.
The reason why? They play/played too much ball , and basketball is all they play. They
don’t do any cross training or other sports to help to regenerate soft tissue and bones.
They do the same repetitive motion, and have been doing it since grade schools because
of this new AAU ball era.

By the time some of these players turn 21-22, they have the bodies of a 30 year old,
because they have been overtraining and over playing since they were kids….see
Lonzo and Lamelo Ball.

And don’t get me started on most of these players stupidly wearing low top
sneakers, and watching star players constantly roll their ankles because of it.

So there is some truth to what they are stating
2789056, I prefer former players takes than non athletic white dudes

yes, for long time OKSports people this is a 180. didn't like him playing in Miami.

after 2016 he can do what he wants because jabronis went Game Genie to deny him.

I have my deep, deep criticism of dude including going to the LAKERS

but the Lakers know what their bread and butter is: elite player, elite BIG player

through my lifetime:

Magic x Kareem
Kobe x Shaq
Kobe x Pau (he ain't Shaq but he was very very good)
LeBron x AD

surround those guys with real talent. they win titles

the Warriors became "The Team In The Way" and that drives the hate
for Steph as much as Braymond at this point

there is no answer for AD.
Vando and Dennis (apology given) are a problem.

I expect the Warriors to ease off that 3-point shooting and leverage Poo-ney, Donkey, and Steph inside more with some zone defense that forces the Lakers to actually shoot

but AD fucks them up in ways that they can't counter. He ain't prime Shaq. But in today's NBA, he is DIFFERENT

Warriors had a 3-point game to DIE for, went 14-0 with ref help and still lost with LeBron turning in a "washed king" performance

this supporting cast the best LeBron support in a minute on both sides of the ball

this is a philosophical battle.

my hate for Steph is solidified but his greatness has affected the league in the most pernicious ways. even on their own team (hello Shaqtin A. Poole)

the Kangz came close (I think Mike Brown sold in game 7 with all that Huerter and Sabonis BS)

but the Lakers are different man.

Pelinka committed highway robbery, I hate that they keep getting away with this BS

but it's jihad.
