2779344, 2022 NFL Reg Season Week 17: Start em Stidham!
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Dec-29-22 10:04 AM
Carr benched, so the Raiders can see what they have in Jarrett Stidham.............BWAHAHAHHHHAAAAAAA!! Stop it, slime!! They know they ain't got shit in Jarrett Stidham. They movin on from Carr and wanna make sure they don't accidentally have to pay him that bread. Dude barely escaped a serious leg injury, like 3 Sundays ago. Meanwhile Devante Swing ain't mincing words...AT ALL!!! (c)Funk Flex. "...if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here". So...do they bring him in on the QB decision process? Got to, right? They can't move him, yet, I don't think. Also, it's gotta be a BIG swing. Like...not kicking the tires on Jimmy G. or some shit. Like...they gotta go ahead and go after The Old Man, don't they? Beyond that...what's the market for Derrick Carr?

Welp...on to the games, Gents

TNF

Cowboys @ Titans (not even gonna say a lot about this. Titans sitting EVERYBODY. Ultimate business trip. Go in there, win, go home)

Sunday

Early

Cards @ Falcons

Fins @ Pats (Teddy Two Gloves has the conns)

Saints @ Eagles (Eagles say Hurts has "a chance" to play this Sunday)

Colts @ Giants (GOD, the Giants losing at home to the Colts would be so delicious)

Panthers @ Bucs (LOL...for the division!!!)

Broncos Country @ Chiefs

Bears @ Lions (big spot for the Lions...they definitely better eat Fields' kneecaps, if possible. He hurt them, last game...bad)

Browns @ CommandSkins (Carson in the muthafuckin house (c))

Jags @ Texans

Late

Niners @ Raiders (R.I.P. Jarrett Stidham)

Jets @ Hawks

Vikes @ Pack (Kirk travels to Lambeau in a MUST WIN for the Pack)

Rams @ Chargers

SNF

Steelers @ Ravens (FLEXED...this game was FLEXED AH!)

MNF

Bills @ Bengals (might be the best MNF game of the damn season)

2779349, I can see Brady and Carr trading places

Caveat being, not sure Raiders o line is much better than current Bucs o line.

Carr could work in tampa, though not at his current $
2779596, Its funny cause its true...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sun Jan-01-23 11:36 AM
..doesn't really matter, 'cause both situations have glaringly obvious problems to face.

Posted by PROMO, Thu Dec-29-22 11:07 AM
happy for the Raiders fans in my family. it's time for Carr to go.

might be a couple years before the Raiders have a true solution at QB (unless they get Brady which is the rumor) but at least my family members can move on from the disappointment that is Derek Carr.

hopefully there's some sunshine for them after the storm, lol.
2779352, the Lions really fucked up
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Dec-29-22 11:33 AM
every single team they are competing with lost last week, and now all 3 of those teams have opponents last in their respective decisions

another ignobility from last week, the Lions are the only team in the NFL to have given up 400+ points on the the season thus far.

2779359, I'm equal parts how tf did that happen

and of COURSE that is what they would do.

Also, thanks Russ.
2779354, I cannot believe the Commies Wentz there
Posted by The Real, Thu Dec-29-22 12:13 PM
This has to be an order from Danny, correct? The Green Lizard has thoroughly outplayed Wentz. It's not even close.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2779358, yeah, IDC, Wentz should not be playing over Hein-dawg.

2779397, i have way more faith in Carr than McDaniels
Posted by Mynoriti, Thu Dec-29-22 10:57 PM
There's a much better chance DC does well on another team than McD ever being a good head coach anywhere.

Raiders would probably be 10-6 right now with Bissacia, and he'd get fired by Mark Davis for underperforming. Carr would prolly stil be gone too.

All the coaches/systems, turmoil, constant chopping block rumors, over the years. He's had shit defenses his entire time... for any of his shortcomings, he's been really the most stable/solid thing about this franchise the past decade (look up the abysmal list of QBs between Gannon and him). And he's been all in. I get them moving on but this was a really disrespectful way of going about it

Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-01-23 02:04 PM
And have a more competent coaching staff.
2779604, Bucs might as well run their 2 minute offense full time...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sun Jan-01-23 02:34 PM
..it's the only set their comfortable running right now (injuries, penalties, etc.)

Play calling is damn-near predictable.

Poor execution.

..Tampa has a lot of work to do if they want to make a run for it all.

Brady & Evans took a huge step in the right direction today. Hopefully that inspires the rest of the roster to get on board and stop the stupid mistakes/penalties.

A healthy locker room culture is more important to winning than most will ever admit.

2779614, Entire team chemistry has been off all year...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sun Jan-01-23 04:05 PM
..they may not want to talk about it, but they lost far too much btwn FA & injuries to the current roster. Evans might be the biggest name mentioned when it comes to drops (unusual for such a noteworthy big play/possession wr), but he's not the only cylinder misfiring in this offense.

They thought they could do without certain stalwarts (JPP, Suh, etc), only to suffer catastrophic losses on both sides of the ball causing issues that they still haven't resolved.

That kind of chemistry & leadership is priceless.

2779649, Raiders O Line came to play today. Sheesh
Posted by Amritsar, Sun Jan-01-23 09:15 PM
Haven’t seen a team run ont he Niners like that since the Atlanta game. I’ve said it before but it needs repeating — Jacobs is the best back in the league. Their O Line even held up pretty well against our pass rush which I haven’t seen that happen all year

Niners handled business in the end and we are inching closer to that number one seed.
Wasn’t Purdy’s best game but he’s poised and delivers when it counts
2779651, Man, Kenny is gonna be just fine….
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-01-23 11:01 PM

2779666, 5th double digit lead the Raiders blew this season
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Jan-02-23 12:56 PM
Really 6th since they had no business winning that NE game

Still pretty proud of how they played against a contender everyone (self included) assumed would squash them.

Stidham balled out. He knows McDaniels offense more than anyone on the team.

Every Raider game this season has come down to the wire... the Saints game being the one exception
2779673, obscene amout of 9er fans at that game
Posted by Mynoriti, Mon Jan-02-23 06:59 PM
Vegas is a destination, so there's definitely been an uptick in the percentage of rival fans, but at most it's like 20%.

Seeing Raider fans as a minority at home is a new one for me, even in a bad season. I was used to Raider nation taking over San Diego, and now blacking out Sofi. This was some shit.
2779674, not sure I've ever seen a player just drop like that

Yikes. I was hoping the kid wasn’t already dead. ‘Not breathing on his own’!? Yikes. Still very scary.

The easiest to defend decision is postponing the game. My guess is they’re trying to give the medical people time to do things before they decide for sure. But there’s almost no way they’re not leaning towards figuring out what the hell to do about this game after they postpone it.

They made the right move to suspend the game. If the teams collectively choose to continue after a 30 minute reset, so be it. If not, the league should reschedule/resume at a *later date.

Dude on the Steelers site has been doing this for every death by a former athlete. Fuck researching the cause of death, soon as they hear an athlete died its the vax

even if it was old age, car accident, etc..

and my issue is with all these athletes and all these televised games this one time is the proof they needed? Not all the other games where no one fell out but this 1 time is the bombshell?

made similar early speculations. As irrelevant as it seems now the Goodell doesn’t have the power to just cancel a game on the schedule, coordination with players union, plus as insensitive as at sounds that’s have to be given to the financial and contractual ramifications of canceling a game and how the league would move forward. It’s easy to say the players don’t care about that now but at some point the players, their agents, their attorneys, team owners, the fans, yes the fans, other entities and the extraordinary number of people involved in an NFL game will.

2779756, There is no way the NFL can reschedule the game,
Posted by allStah, Tue Jan-03-23 09:24 PM
so it’s going have to get cancelled.

Both teams have already clinched a PO berth, and even though the game does impact
PO seedings, that’s no longer important.

So I think those scenarios make it an easy decision to make.

Betting services will refund bettors their money, and
and the game will be defined as a no contest.

2779760, So who gets the #1 seed in the AFC?

Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-04-23 11:05 AM
depending on how this weekend goes, either it will be wrapped up for the Bills or the Bengals could be locked in and there won't even be a need to finish Bills/Bengals.
2779775, How would that be fair to the Bills or Bengals?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Jan-04-23 12:16 PM
2779776, was just reading an article with some breakdowns...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-04-23 12:37 PM
Cliff Notes version

Therefore, what this all means is that if the Bills vs. Bengals game is canceled, the following can play out:

The Chiefs will lock up the one seed with a win Saturday.
If the Chiefs win, the Bills can secure the two seed with a win on Sunday.
If the Chiefs lose, the Bills can get the one seed with a win Sunday.
The Bengals are guaranteed to win the AFC North but cannot get to the one seed.
The Bengals can finish as the two seed if they win and the Bills lose, but this would come down to the strength of victory tie-breaker.
2779778, What if they both win or they both lose?
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jan-04-23 01:31 PM
2779774, Agreed. I think they give both teams a tie.
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jan-04-23 11:51 AM
There's no way to make up the game that doesn't result in a logistical nightmare.
2779790, Tie would be different than no contest
Posted by Deebot, Wed Jan-04-23 03:01 PM
No contest makes more sense I think. Compare the teams’ winning percentages at the end, they’ll just have one fewer game played.

They’re obviously not gonna play Bills-Bengals in the middle of next week, and they’re not gonna delay the playoffs a week just to fit in this one regular season game. Given the circumstances, I think everyone is fine with seeing where the chips fall after Week 18 and moving on.

2779804, More than likely it will be the Chiefs…
Posted by allStah, Wed Jan-04-23 04:54 PM
If the Chiefs win, then they will get top gun.

Bills will win it IF they beat the Pats and the Chiefs lose.

If they both lose, it will go to the Chiefs because they will have more
games won.

Bottom line, it will come down to the Bills or Chiefs….

2779811, yep, I think we will legit have all the answers by Sunday night

2779818, It's a tough situation all the way around...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jan-04-23 06:19 PM
the bottom line is at some point the NFL will continue and the majority of the people in this post will be watching.

To pretend that there are simple answers to everything and major conversations behind the scenes between the league, the player's association and other entities about these same topics aren't happening is unrealistic.
2779821, I’m not sure what this has to do with what I said

Sure, what does that have to do with anything?

Of course there are conversations happening, it’s just that the outcome seems obvious here. Rescheduling the game is not just a logistical nightmare, but it’s also likely that the majority of the players from both teams would rather just move on for a lot of reasons.
2779853, Move on and what?
Posted by Cenario, Thu Jan-05-23 09:01 AM
Keep playing football? If this was earlier in the year the nfl would definitely be rescheduling this game.

The only reason not to reschedule is the logistical nightmare. There is no symbolic gesture being made by not letting the bills/bengals play, but allowing everyone thing else nfl related to continue
2779854, Move on and forget about their shot at higher seeding
Posted by pretentious username, Thu Jan-05-23 09:23 AM

If they had a bye week open or there was a 10 day gap in between games (Thursday to the following Sunday), yeah, but this was gonna be a logistical nightmare anywhere in the season. It’s just moreso now.

>The only reason not to reschedule is the logistical nightmare.

My “move on” comment was talking about the players, not the league, cause the players (and to a lesser extent, the two organizations) are likely too shaken up about the whole thing to give a shit about playoff seeding. That’s primarily what I’m talking about outside of the logistics. The league would love to be able to reschedule the game, but that’s not what I’m talking about.
2779860, I know. My response was about the players too

They are going to move on by keep playing football. Or you think the bills and bengals are going to take a few weeks off?

Move on from THIS specific game, which this conversation is about. Nowhere did I suggest that they’re going to take a few weeks off.

Christ dude, you really got all this from “the players want to move on.” Also, “not letting the bills/bengals play” means you’re looking at it from the league’s perspective when I was clearly talking about the players. What exactly are you debating here? If you wanna keep reading too much into 2 pretty benign words, knock yourself out, but I’ll just go ahead and… move on 😏.
2779886, lol just trying to understand why the players wouldn't want the
Posted by Cenario, Thu Jan-05-23 01:27 PM
game rescheduled.

It doesn't make sense logistically.

What else?

The players wanna move on (c) you

Whatever that means.
2779816, I'm sure both teams have parties that 'care' to some degree
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jan-04-23 05:52 PM
however, what is the alternative? there isn't an alternative that either team could argue that would make sense. Both teams will be in the playoffs as division winners.
2779819, Right, but can you picture either org. raising a stink about this?
Posted by pretentious username, Wed Jan-04-23 06:48 PM
If the Bills start whining about seeding, they’ll look insensitive to their own player.

If the Bengals start whining about seeding, everyone will call them assholes.
2779826, Based on whats at stake no
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jan-04-23 08:17 PM

2779795, No one cares at this point, and I’m sure there will be no arguments
Posted by allStah, Wed Jan-04-23 03:29 PM
from any of the teams due to why the game was settled in such a manner.

2779817, wouldn't a tie and no contest be the same mathematically anyway?
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jan-04-23 05:52 PM
2779820, Not exactly
Posted by pretentious username, Wed Jan-04-23 06:52 PM
a tie counts as half a win and half a loss as far as winning percentage goes, so the record for both teams would inch a little closer to .500.

Not counting the game at all means you’re just figuring out the winning percentages based on the 16 games already played.
2779825, Winning pwrcentage would be slightly different
Posted by Cenario, Wed Jan-04-23 08:16 PM
But not to the point that it would effect standings

14-3
13-3
13-3-1
13-4

I mean i guess it could if there wwas another team with a tie in that mix

@Gbush91 wants to talk about.

It's a ~6 min video but he touches on the potential financial hardships Hamlin will face due to his status as a non-vested player. He also mentions the NFL's offensive history regarding the long-term care of its veterans.
