Guys like Durant, (yes) Westbrook and, sure, Rudy Gay make it seem like achilles injuries are nothing much, while the ACL return still feels a little magical or at least on a bit of a sine wave pattern but I'd always understood both injuries to fuck with lateral movement, ie. staying in front of guys on defense, cutting on offense, driving to the basket and help defense on monsters like Giannis or pre-hammy Harden.


Klay is in a weird spot because on all of these things, except maybe one on one, he usually looks like he's still got the passion, drive, physicality and awareness to show up for all of these things. He's wide open when he should be, he's bodied up when he has to be, he's the second man with his hands up about as efficiently as he should be, yet...it feels like whatever he gets off, buckets or denial, is a hoop god miracle. I wonder if it looks good to NBA players in the film room? I really don't know.


But as an outside observer, watching him against these young guys...I feel my own age. He NEEDS to hit those spot up shots, much sooner than later.
