..You complain about the wildcard round as if it would somehow show parity btwn divisional winners and the teams barely making the playoffs.

Like I said before: Managing expectations.

If you come here just to complain, i'm pretty sure Statler & Waldorf have a seat available for you.

either the Chiefs are the Bills will be done. Seems unfair, lol.
2755841, and THAT is the crime of the extra playoff seed
Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Jan-19-22 02:19 PM
that should be the AFCCG.
2756091, Yep, bummer for sure...

I don't think KC gonna get straight Buffaloed...but, man the Bills are fucking equipped! It still makes me laugh they lost that bullshit weather game to New England.
2756095, what does the extra playoff seed have to do with it?
Posted by Oak27, Sat Jan-22-22 06:10 PM
regardless of the 7 seed making it to the playoffs, the Bills were gonna play the Chiefs this weekend assuming they won in the WC round.
2756092, meh they should've been better in the regular season then
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Jan-22-22 05:12 PM
we had the most injuries in the league and many to actual key players and we managed it. and beat both of em to do it.
2755824, Picks
Posted by mista k5, Wed Jan-19-22 12:16 PM
Didn't do great last week, 50/50.

Titans
Packers
Bucs
Bills

I think all the these games could go either way. Titans find ways to win, maybe they get blown out next week but I think they come correct for their first game.

I bit worried about picking against the 49ers but I do think they can't play a full game and getting so close to giving the game away last week doesn't bode well for them. I would slightly prefer the 49ers to win it but I don't think they will.

I didn't watch the Rams game, I know the Bucs have injuries but I guess you can do worse than to bet on Brady. I drew the Bucs in a pool so eh sure.

I'm really not sure on this. I'm just guessing the Bills come out with the same energy and are able to pull off the upset.
2755828, Cam Akers coming back is so big for Rams.
Posted by dillinjah, Wed Jan-19-22 12:52 PM
He was cutting great too, which to do ~8 months after an Achilles tear is...crazy.

It's gonna take a monstrous effort by Bucs D to hold down Rams if he plays like he did v Cards.
2755832, Bro, it’s massive…
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-19-22 01:13 PM
it’s like they traded for a pro bowl RB, with fresh legs. He and Sony Michele are such a good 1, 2.
2756024, best offense in the playoffs IMO
Posted by HecticHavoc, Fri Jan-21-22 04:12 PM
Rams offense is a thing of beauty when the PA is humming. expecting a big game from OBJ and Kupp
2755838, The two AFC matches are toss up
Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Jan-19-22 02:06 PM
if I had to pick, Titans over Bengals and Bills over Chiefs (though I can never count out Mahomes).

Bengals overachieve and as long as you have Burrow/Chase, bullshit is possible. Titans have a good coach, balanced offense and some sneakiness on their side. If Henry is playing, then all bets are off.

The Bills have been moving in a way that reminds me of teams that go to the Super Bowl. And while Chiefs defense is standing up at a time they need to, they did get washed by some teams they shouldn't after the Cowboys game. That's the reason why they didn't make the 1 seed.
Bills just went without a punt in 2 straight games against Belichick, which were blowouts. If it gets out of hand, I don't trust Andy to adjust, even though Mahomes will eat eventually.

As for the NFC:

Packers over 49ers. Packers defense still suspect (the Browns, even with multiple turnovers, were within a possession of winning) and Niners defense still stout. Niners have Deebo. Packers have Q-Aaron, the best QB in the NFL right today. Niners have Jimmy G, and they're not playing the Cowboys (who UNDER achieve).

Rams over Bucs. This isn't a 100% "Fuck Boody" pick, and usually the Rams have a way of bullshitting in big games. However, we saw what they did to the Cardinals, who showed up in a way worse than the Eagles did against the Bucs. Cam Akers is back and whooping ass.

However, here's the key: as mediocre as the Eagles defense is this season, they were getting pressure and sacks on Boody, forcing TB to punt. I expect Tampa to run the ball as much as possible, try to get the manageable downs, and let Boody do his usual "toss it to Gronk or some jabroni who is wide open" act. But 2 safety valves in Godwin and Brown (LOL) are gone. So it's Gronk, OJ, and others. Can Gio Bernard do it again?

However, if Wirfs is still fucked up, and the center is having troubles... you're not dealing with Cox (pause) and Barnett. You're dealing with Aaron Donald and Von Miller. The Rams secondary is still no joke.

On offense, you're not dealing with rookie QBs and WRs. You have Stafford (who has his Favre moments), BUT top tier WRs, bonus OBJ, aforementioned Akers and former Cheatriot Sony Michel running the ball. Staff will throw it down the field.

Bucs' only hope is defense and hopes that LA turns it over and give Boody his customary short field.

On the officiating front, Boody Rules supreme but NFL is eager to get a Los Angeles team to the top.

Won't be a blowout, but Rams should win this one. Fuck Boody.
2755839, Could this be Brady's last game?
Posted by go mack, Wed Jan-19-22 02:09 PM
if they lose. I think he would play one more season but if loses co-ordinators and key pieces this off-season Im not certain he'll stick around. If he doesn't think he has a SB calibre team, I can see him walking away.

The game itself is a toss-up to me, have same feeling I did going into Saints game last season. I think Rams probably should win, but will see if they do.

Chiefs I think will beat Bills, would love Bills to get over on them tho. The idiot analyst on Fox mornings kept calling last week 'betterthanabye' and he's probably right, worked out the kinks in first half of that game.

Packers I think will beat 49ers especially if comes to Jimmy G having to throw a lot.

Bengals over Titans is my one upset, all in on Burrow.

Source: Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians fined $50K for striking safety Andrew Adams

1:08 PM ET
Jenna Laine
ESPN Staff Writer

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians has been fined $50,000 by the NFL for swiping his hand at safety Andrew Adams' helmet during the wild-card game against Philadelphia on Sunday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Arians was attempting to move Adams, who was trying to pull a player out of a pile after a muffed punt by Jalen Reagor, which would have drawn a penalty. He can be seen slapping Adams' helmet hard with an open hand and then elbowing him.

Adams wasn't penalized on the play.

A source told ESPN that the note to Arians stated that he displayed "conduct directed towards your players that fell below standards expected of an NFL head coach."

The NFL Network first reported the fine.

Last month, then-Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer came under increased scrutiny when former kicker Josh Lambo told the Tampa Bay Times that Meyer had kicked him during warm-ups at a practice. Meyer was fired the next day, but it was for a litany of issues.

Arians was asked Monday whether he regretted making physical contact with a player.

"No," Arians said. "I've seen enough dumb. You can't pull guys out of a pile. We just got a big play, great field position, and he's trying to pull a guy out of a pile and I was trying to knock him off that guy so he didn't get a penalty."

Posted by allStah, Sat Jan-22-22 07:22 PM
It’s insane, waiting for plays to develop. A QB has 3 seconds
to get rid of the ball, so there should be a check down or hot route available
if there is nothing down field.

2756122, they showed one of those long sacks on replay. all routes were 10yds +
Posted by poetx, Sat Jan-22-22 09:12 PM
downfield. nobody in the flat, no quicks or checkdowns. that's route design and that's on the OC / scheme.

there should be sight adjusts built into each route where if there's a blitz or the defense brings more than the offense can block, someone breaks the route off. if they don't have that built into their passing game, they're hanging their qb out to dry.

peace & blessings,

x.

This is so tucking sweet. Love this team’s heart.

Defense were beasts. Them and special teams executed perfectly. Deebo and Mitchell had great games.

And for all the shit that people talked about Jimmy, he handled his biz in the second half. And the INT in the first didn’t end up hurting him. Bottom line is, he’s here and Q-Aaron isn’t.
2756225, D-Line was really solid and the secondary
Posted by natenate101, Sun Jan-23-22 12:47 AM
didn’t give up much of anything. Really well done though the Packers seemed to lack weapons as the game went on. They handled Adams pretty well.

2756213, 49ers setting the table for the LOAT. Hopefully Rams handle biz
Posted by Dr Claw, Sat Jan-22-22 11:55 PM
I want to root for the 49ers to win it all here.
But there are two problems. One practical, and one more trivial.

The practical one is Jimmy G. I like him, but he can not win the game unless it's a "Dilfer" moment.

The trivial one is that I hate Nick Bosa and wish he were playing on some other team so this 49er team would be completely umblemished. Really like that DeMeco Ryans is their DC. There's so much likable on that team, that it has to be tainted by that little Yakubian fuck.

I had a feeling Niners might win because some aspect of the Packers couldn't be trusted. This year, it was the special teams. Packers don't get their punt blocked and they win. Of course you can say Aaron could have scored more.

But the way Niners were playing on offense, they weren't going to do shit unless it was the exact situation on which they won.

Go Rams.
May the best AFC Team win.

No Boody in Super Bowl.

Im of the opinion that Rodgers has already done enough to be bashed into oblivion even if he says nothing else, retires abruptly in a month, and we never hear from his ass again. He hasn’t won in forever. He’s been hurt. He’s been not great in multiple big games. He has had some teammates take shots at him as a person. He pulled the whole ‘I might not come back’/hold everyone hostage bullshit that big shit real mfer badass QBs kinda don’t do. He cried and complained and let it get out going into the season. Then he showed up and acted like he was doing everyone a fucking favor so he basically had to win it all or be a bitch forever…at least to me.

(I haven’t mentioned that rona bullshit cuz the rest is enough for me and I don’t want to muddy waters here.)

Then…

This bitch ass mfer had the nerve to allow this season to be labeled ‘The Last Dance’.

!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Last Dance!? What in the fuck!? The last shit called the last dance was some mfers who had won 5 titles in 7 seasons holding shit together for one more year. This Rodgers Green Bay run is nothing resembling that at all and people fix their mouths to say all sorts of delusion of grandeur ass glorious shit about this dude and these Green Bay teams. And I don’t fucking see it. Maybe folks are gassed up off of highlights and fantasy football? I don’t know. Anything to pretend that the reality is not that Brady is the dude to beat every year? Or let’s further pretend that Mahomes isn’t already damn near even with Rodgers zoomed out?

Tldr: fuck Rodgers and I have felt that way for a long time. At least a few years. Great arm talent. He proved the early critics mostly wrong. But he’s a bitch who hasn’t won in forever, he loses in spots where he should win A LOT, and here he went again. He should’ve slammed Jimmy G’s pretty face into a casket but didn’t.
2756232, And it was the special teams that got it done for San Francisco.
Posted by Shaun Tha Don, Sun Jan-23-22 01:37 AM
2 Robbie Gould FG's, a blocked FG and a blocked punt returned for a TD.

This is the only team Brady's faced more than once in the past 2 yrs that escaped with a win each time. Both teams have something to prove.

I’d have to see the tape/all 22, but really bizarre there wasn’t a better plan to contain Kupp. He shouldn’t have been given a clean release like that and the safeties should’ve been deeper.

giving Kupp a running start against Winfield Jr. in off-man, which is one of the hardest coverage spots in football IMO

Winfield was thinking it'd be a quick slant or something he could sit on to of, but credit to Stafford and Kupp for letting it rip with pressure right in his face

..Bowles may not admit it, but that play was truly on him.

They were not only out of position, but they had communication problems all afternoon. Tampa just tied the game (after forcing Akers to give up the ball twice) and held all momentum. You don't need a zero blitz against Stafford. This was a "bend but don't break moment," knowing that the Rams missed a 47 yd FG.

Doesn't matter now, I just hope that Bowles is man enough to admit it was the wrong call.

They should have kicked the ball in a way that would’ve forced a return. But they were probably afraid of giving up a big return so they did what they did. And now look at em.

Kansas City has a unicorn trio and three full timeouts, getting 44 yards in 12 seconds is not that impossible for them

but there's no way LA should've gone 63 yards with no timeouts and still have time to kick a field goal...that only happens if you blitz the corner covering their most dangerous receiver

13 seconds for the tying 49 yard FG, not even holding them to like a 59 yard FG.

Then you let them just walk you down in OT for the winning TD!?!?!

Fuck a plane, the defense should probably take a Greyhound bus home.

Not close yet. Brady still 2-0 over Mahomes in post-season including embarrassing him in SB just last year, a divisinal win against Bills doesn't make him GOAT. He's got time to get 7, see if he can get another this year first.

Also, Brady >>>>> Rodgers can put that shit to bed right now. Rodgers might be the biggest choker in post-season history. 10 points, throwing 20 throws to doubled Adams when there are wide open guys, he can't do it on the biggest stages. I don't think him going to another team will result in a SB the way it did for Brady or Manning, think will get more of the same.
2756457, Boody wouldn't win a single playoff game w/the defenses KC has

This KC/BUF game might get some qbs traded or cut. There’s at least 20 teams who can’t even pretend they have a guy capable of the qb play we just saw. Wow.

Too many teams don’t have the proper resources to build up one young qb. So they really can’t mess with 2 at once. They usually use one ‘established’ qb to help the younger one.

And it would be tough to get two qbs who carry different strengths and weaknesses and get anything done at the same time. They’d almost certainly pick one over the other.

And then there’s the issues of practice reps and even crazier, game reps.

And hell, lots of these owners aren’t nuanced enough to wait on a qb and a coaching staff to get it together. So if it’s not a Dak situation where a dude ends up starting accidentally and overachieves early OR it’s not a ‘holy shit, this dude might be special..let’s get him some weapons’ thing like Mahomes and Allen, good luck with getting time to develop on a regular basis.

2756403, the best thing about the Boody loss was the officiating.
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Jan-24-22 06:47 AM
I'll be surprised if "taunting" survives the offseason as a rule, the same way they took away the ability to challenge pass interference.

there was someone who noted that the Young Hochuli crew was one of the most notorious flag throwers of the bunch. And there were a fair amount of flags thrown, only it was against Tampa.

Ndamukong Suh got a taunting flag that erased a negative down play. (Someone noted Suh was shouting about being kicked by Stafford).

HILARIOUSLY, BOODY got flagged for jawing at the refs because of a hit he took.

Those two above resulted in Rams TDs eventually.

But the icing on the cake was watching Boody do his James Harden grift of underthrowing someone down field to bait pass interference. the ball goes incomplete, and there's a flag. You're thinking it might be PI called, but it ended up being a dead ball foul on the Rams, which still gave them the ball on downs, but just backed them up.

(I do believe that was right before a Rams turnover, but that shit was still hilarious).

I was waiting for the Rams to "Vrabel" that game and just drain that clock before it got to a tie game, but the ending we got was even more hilarious.

Shout out to the Rams offensive line, I thought they'd be in trouble with a backup in there.

2756463, 100% agree.

2756501, Does Stefon Diggs take a hit for 3 catches and 7 yards??
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Tue Jan-25-22 10:01 AM
Or do people look at it as the reason Davis was able to go off? Kinda surprised i haven't seen many people talking about it. He rocked a fan running on the field but was MIA for the entire game. (caught a two point conversion but that's about it)
2756502, nah, he's a receiver
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jan-25-22 10:05 AM
this isn't the NBA

Buffalo scored 36 points in regulation and if the Chiefs defense was content to let Davis have one of the most prolific receiving game in playoff history, not sure how that reflects on Diggs

Stefon cold and is part of the reason for Josh’s leap. Seems like Chiefs decided who they weren’t gonna let beat them. Diggs, Knox and Sanders had 6 catches, combined.
2756508, only if he complained or blame it for the loss
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jan-25-22 10:49 AM
obviously they focused on stopping Diggs and Allen and the OC were smart enough to exploit the rest of the D.
2756510, I was told BUF had the #1 defense in the NFL
Posted by bentagain, Tue Jan-25-22 11:18 AM
Offense put up 36pts on the road in 'the loudest stadium' in the league

I'm not an all 22 guy
But I imagine Davis was the beneficiary of Diggs commanding the secondary's attention

13secs, #1 defense, datall.
2756511, I have to believe there will be turmoil in that locker room.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Tue Jan-25-22 12:17 PM
I know they are professionals but i dont know how you cannot be FUCKING FURIOUS at your defensive teammates blowing the game with 13 seconds left. After you have countered every Chiefs gut punch. THIRTEEN SECONDS. That is absolutely brutal.
2756529, I agree but I don’t think they will because the season is over now
Posted by calij81, Tue Jan-25-22 04:45 PM
So they don’t have to see each other for a while. Time and distance will help ease the pain and hard feelings.
2756530, They should be mad at the coaches

The strategy at the end of that game on defense and special teams for the Bills was ass. Booty butt cheeks.
2756534, It’s on both because at the end of the day, they could have made one play
Posted by calij81, Tue Jan-25-22 07:31 PM
One simple pass break up in those 13 seconds would have won them the game.
2756543, But if you're not put in that position it's not that easy....
Posted by blueeclipse, Tue Jan-25-22 08:36 PM
They gave Kelce a free release on the last catch.....like wtf kind of coaching is that?!?!?!
2756603, I'm still confused about that Kelce catch.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Wed Jan-26-22 11:43 AM
If you rewatch the play he is literally the only person lined up on the left side. All the other receivers are on the right side. Number 39 still decides not to cover him and just lets him run by until he panics and realizes Kelce is wide open. Dude was literally just guarding a patch of grass. I can't imagine watching Gronk come to my side of the line, with NO OTHER RECIEVER, and i dont react or see if anyone has him covered. Kelce got a free release. It was pitch and catch.
