cuz he has openly boasted about vulturing rebounds from teammates. And the numbers bear that out: over the three seasons from 2013-14 to 2015-16 Westbrook's Defensive Rebound% averaged 17.1%, then it suddenly skyrocketed to 28.8% in his first triple-double season of 2016-17, and averaged 27.6% over the three seasons from 2016-17 to 2018-19 when he put up double-digit rebounds each season (an increase of over 61 percent!). Over these same timeframes, Steven Adams' DREB% was 17.5% from 2013-14 to 2015-16 (already oddly low for a center, let alone a strong rebounding center like Adams who puts up great offensive rebounding numbers), then dropped to 14.7% from 2016-17 to 2018-19 while Russ went on his triple-double run (anemically low for a center). And then lo and behold: once Russ left OKC, Adams' DREB% shot up to 24.0% in 2019-20 (an increase of over 62 percent from the previous year!), and has remained above 20% the following seasons in New Orleans and now Memphis, averaging 21.8% since he stopped playing with Russ (a much more reasonable DREB% for a center)

Westbrook was demonstrably vulturing rebounds to chase his triple double records. You lie, the numbers don't.
