..and miles to go before i sleep...
2754610, I've said it all season
Posted by Mack, Fri Jan-07-22 01:12 PM
and it's painfully apparent...the Vikings need to clean house...Zimmer and Spielman need to go. I want Cousins gone too but that's a more difficult task to accomplish.
2754667, Drew Vick, lol

2754668, Lol, we selling, tonight..
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Jan-08-22 05:39 PM
Out:Tony Pollard, Tyron Smith, Micah Parsons, Anthony Brown, Trevon Diggs, Jayron Kearse.
2754669, There's the Melvin Gordon we remember. Lol
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Jan-08-22 07:03 PM
2754670, Melvin Gordon still comes up small on big plays
Posted by calij81, Sat Jan-08-22 07:04 PM
2754692, you blame Gordon for that fumble?
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-09-22 11:16 AM
2754727, I do, it was a clean handoff and he has had fumble issues
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 04:16 PM
2754672, Well this game escalated quickly

2754684, 17-17 with 2 minutes left in the first half
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 09:48 AM
Other observations
DAL gets too many penaltiies
Zeke’s decline is staggering

I like the hurry up
Dak looks comfortable making calls at the line
and they have the receivers to be effective

To your reply, and it’s also happening way too much in the NBA
The flexing, taunting…needs to stop
Wilson getting a TD in the 1st quarter and then taunting fans by doing the bird…
Let’s just say I understand Buddy Ryan the older I get

I like that the NFL allows the team celebrations
But running over to fans and taunting them on the road…that’s a bit much

DAL got the W they needed
But it wasn’t the flex you think it is keeping starters in the game through 3 quarters vs our practice squad.

Huntley and Gainwell, a RB getting his first snaps of the year and our 4th RB, were doing damage
We add a marquee WR to go with Devonta next year, I’ll be happy
2754693, Imagine if the Cowboys defense was missing…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-09-22 11:41 AM
both starting corners, the starting strong safety and the defensive ROY…oh, wait…
2754695, IGGLES didn’t play any starters.
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 11:51 AM
Devonta was in for a handful of snaps to get the rookie record
Kelce was in for the first snap to continue his consecutive game streak
That’s it. That’s the list.

Your entire starting offense was on the field through 3 quarters
17-17 with 2 minutes to play in the first half
You’re deflecting and not addressing the issue
The penalties and Pollard’s plantar fasciitis are going to be issues in the playoffs.

DAL is 6-0 vs the NFC East
Their best W is…OT vs NE in week 6…?
We saw what happened vs ARZ

Typical DAL BS to puff up after Ws vs WSH/PHL 3rd stringers and ignore the glaring problems
2754696, Breh, I’m talking strictly about your line…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Jan-09-22 11:59 AM
regarding the two RBs “doing damage”, when damn near half our starting defense was out. I ain’t deflecting shit. You thought you was breaking some news by saying the Cowboys get a lot of penalties? Maybe YOU just found out, but I didn’t. That’s been all season. Too many penalties and McCarthy dumb…that combination literally lost the Cardinals game, last week. Zeke fucked up his knee in week 4 against Carolina. Pollard fucked up his foot against New Orleams. This is known shit, fella.

…like the NFL didn’t just add a game…
FOH.
2754707, Giants just ran a QB sneak on 3rd and 9, from their own 4 yard line 😳😳😳

2754714, Colts really about to miss the playoffs by losing to the Jags.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-09-22 03:07 PM
Absolute disaster of a collapse to end the year.
2754724, They just lost to the Jaguars.
Posted by Shaun Tha Don, Sun Jan-09-22 04:08 PM
And now, whoever wins between the Steelers and Ravens will take over their spot.
2754752, can't wait for Hard Knocks this week
Posted by will_5198, Sun Jan-09-22 05:58 PM
"We still have the best team in the NFL, we just got unlucky this year" - Reich preaching delusion again

"I am going to keep fighting for you guys and show you next season that I still do not have what it takes" - Wentz
2754715, if the titans lose this just stay home in the playoffs

2754719, this should be end of the 'Start Minshew' shit
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Jan-09-22 03:45 PM
that being said, if Young Detmer wants to be the backup, party on.

the defense lost that game but thankfully the only thing that would have been for the Eagles was adding to their win count.

Bring on Boody.
2754729, Minshew is a good backup and spot starter, IMO but he isn’t a full time
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 04:24 PM
Starter, that’s about his ceiling.
2754720, Never forget: Colts don't have a first round pick because of the Wentz trade.

2754726, Kinda funny how gassed Dak and Cowboys fans were off the W.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sun Jan-09-22 04:12 PM
Congratulations on beating up Philly’s practice squad. The Eagles secondary is mediocre to begin with and we literally did not play a single player in the back 7 who played meaningful snaps this year. Was essentially like the last game of preseason. Kind of weird how the fact was lost on the announcers at times. It was cool seeing Clement get some carries. Despite him never matching his rookie season, he’s still well respected here and remembered for his amazing SB performance.

And LOL at Carson Wentz and the Colts. I like Frank Reich, but Wentz is a clown. Thanks, we’ll take a better 1st rd pick.
2754731, Ravens go out like some suckas

2754732, Hate to see it for you, fam…

but I was honestly rooting against them, cuz of Harbaugh. Dude really annoyed me this season, with his arrogance.
2754733, All of this. I was rooting for the Ravens today because I dislike
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 04:42 PM
the Steelers and don’t want to see them sneak into the playoffs.

I like Tomlin but I hate the Steelers fanbase. They don’t deserve a coach like Tomlin.

Harbaugh needs to go.
2754737, Hate it or love it.. we in this bitch!! Unless Raider and Chargers
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-09-22 04:59 PM
are on some hoe shit.

2754742, I hope the Raiders/Chargers take a knee for 4 quarters
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 05:07 PM
The amount of mad making it would cause in the NFL and Steelers fans would be epic. I’m sure the 70% of alt right/white nationalist Steeler fans would lose their shit and probably try to bomb the facilities of the Chargers and Raiders.
2754748, Yea man. Plenty of folks around here want him gone.
Posted by Beezo, Sun Jan-09-22 05:33 PM
And his homie Greg Roman.
2754734, Chargers and Raiders have an amazing opportunity
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Jan-09-22 04:55 PM
if they end in a tie, they both go to the playoffs and the Steelers are out. This is prime assholia on the table.

Ravens bullshitting that game against the worst Steeler team ever, SMH.

AND the Ravens will have Lamar and a 4th place schedule next season LOL
2754741, I know they won’t but both teams should take a knee for 4 quarters
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 05:03 PM
The Raiders should do it just to fuck with the NFL for the whole email situation and both teams should do it to rest starters.

I know it won’t happen but it would be glorious to see.

Also just to see how angry Steeler fans would be.
2754735, Week 18 = some really bad football
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 04:55 PM
Alot of guys not interested in tackling
Coaches unwilling or unprepared to run the ball in bad weather

Teams should be hitting on all cylinders heading into the playoffs
This is not parity
This is bad football.
2754738, Most teams are resting starters
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-09-22 05:00 PM
and teams still in the hunt are middle of the pack

never look for the best football the last week of the regular season.
2754744, Only team not playing for anything is GB
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 05:13 PM
and the schedule setup for the final games to be rivalries... but maybe we're watching different games

If you're point is this week's games are pointless...I agree
League's getting extra $$$, but I can't really say this is football
2754736, Congrats Tomlin!! LMAO at his haters and dude at my barber shop
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Jan-09-22 04:57 PM
especially the barber next to mine at the shop who said no way the Colts lose AND said The Wire wasn't a good show.

2754832, Living in PA, it's amazing how many "Steelers" fans hate Tomlin
Posted by The Real, Mon Jan-10-22 07:46 AM
It drives me crazy and my wife wants to fight them all. One even had the nerve to say that now that Big Ben is gone, he gives it two years before Tomlin is exposed. Big Ben has been trash for years now but these fans ride with that dude over Tomlin.

2754779, Every team that ran the ball Won
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 08:02 PM
GB and BAL were the only teams to have even run/pass plays and lose...for obvious reasons
TB was the only team to have a 2:1 pass/run ratio and Win

Even BUF ran the ball

All pass all the time =Ls

Hard to believe in the age of analytics I can boxscore Bobby every NFL game and see the trend

This isn't football

Dudes out here grabbing shoulder pads trying to strip the ball instead of tackling and giving up 10 extra yards every play

Madden wept.
2754780, Ravens ran the ball 36 for 249, Steelers ran the ball 30 times for 79
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 08:08 PM
Running isn’t always a recipe for wins.
2754783, Which isn't what I said...did you read my post?
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-09-22 08:22 PM
Murray was gashing PIT
Harbaugh went pass on 2nd/3rd downs in overtime during a drive that was moving running the ball
If you read my post, I said obviously there was a reason BAL lost
But they had a chance to Win that game if they don't abandon the run on that final series
Ask a Ravens fan.
Also, PIT Won with a balanced run/pass ratio even with an injured Harris
2754785, I read it, I just didn’t think it was that obvious why they lost
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 08:29 PM
You’re right that Harbaugh probably should have kept running it as Huntley was struggling throwing the ball. The biggest passing play mistake was the pick in the end zone.
2754838, LAC 3:1 pass/run ration = L LAV 1:1 pass/run ration = W
Posted by bentagain, Mon Jan-10-22 09:03 AM
What I'm saying is...in the age of analytics...it appears to me
just based on observation and then boxscore bobby all of the other games
That there is a tipping point for run/pass ratio that trends toward predicting wins and losses
I totally understand coaches may get caught up in the moment and just want to go for it all, etc...
But it's surprising to me that they seem to be unaware that just chucking the football is a disadvantage...unless Tom is your QB

LAV stayed committed to the run, and Jacobs got them into FG position on that final drive
...while Herbert was picking himself up off the ground every play...

I would ASSume it's one of the reasons that 3rd and long is hard to convert
You're signaling to the defense that a pass is coming, and they get to just go after the QB
Same with these lopsided ratios
The defense can just try to get the QB and they don't have to maintain any gap integrity or respect any other assignment
2754781, Do the Raiders and Chargers have any incentive to try?
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Jan-09-22 08:15 PM
The scenario has always been if they tie, they’re both in. Do either feel like they “owe it to the game” to give the Steelers a shot, or do they kneel down for all four quarters and the OT?
2754782, Strategically it would be best just to kneel, why risk injury
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 08:18 PM
2754784, A tie is hard to do by accident let alone to try it lol
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Jan-09-22 08:27 PM
2754788, Plus players have incentives and coaches are trying out for jobs
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Jan-09-22 09:04 PM
2754790, They also have incentives for making the playoffs
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 09:23 PM
2754795, The receiver flopped and the ball wasn't remotely catchable. Terrible call.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-09-22 10:07 PM

Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sun Jan-09-22 10:21 PM

2754826, smart dumb
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-10-22 01:16 AM
kind of amazing he got the keys to Herbert, so many HC around the league would kill for that kind of building block
2754828, I agree but his biggest problem is his defense is bad
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 01:22 AM
The run defense is terrible.

He is lucky that he has Herbert so the offense will put up points but he is a former DC and that side of the ball was the weak link.
2754806, Wow!!!!!!!!! What a game
Posted by calij81, Sun Jan-09-22 11:46 PM

2754809, Bosa might be the most overrated MAGA player in the NFL

2754815, besides Shanahan the only thing I really dislike about the Niners
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Jan-10-22 12:21 AM
is that dude. Niners should see if they can get Harbaugh No. 2 back and run it back
2754821, I think the younger Bosa is better but more blatant MAGA
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 12:28 AM
2754810, Brandon Staley might be the dumbest coach of all time. Ever. Ever ever
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Mon Jan-10-22 12:16 AM
2754812, Why? Because he took a timeout? The timeout didn’t change anything
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 12:17 AM
The raiders were going to run a play on 3rd down and then kick a FG on 4th.

The only question was how long of a FG attempt it would have been. The Raiders were playing for a kick and win or kick and miss for a tie.
2754816, BS. The Raiders looked like they had zero interest in risking anything
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Mon Jan-10-22 12:22 AM
They were letting the clock run out.
2754820, Right but they still had to run a 3rd down play, they couldn’t run it
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 12:26 AM
out to 0 after the second down play. I believe it was a 13 second time difference between the play clock and the game clock. The raiders were going to run the ball on 3rd down and if they had a big run, they probably line up for a FG and if they get stuffed then they could still attempt a long FG.

Staley called a timeout to set the defense after seeing what LV came out with.
2754824, Went back and it was 38 seconds left with 6 on the game clock
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 12:58 AM
Raiders would have ran their 3rd down play with with about 34 seconds left.

After the 3rd down play they either line up for a FG or punt or don’t run a play at all.
2754813, Interested in how this outcome (and this season) affects him next year
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Jan-10-22 12:19 AM
On one hand, if you follow the numbers, a lot of his aggressive decisions have merit.

But given football common sense, many of them do seem like headscratchers.

I'm interested if he looks back on this season and dials back some of his aggressive tendencies. Or at least develop new logic to make his decisions.

2754819, Yeah, I agree. Most of the analytics would agree with going for it BUT
Posted by calij81, Mon Jan-10-22 12:23 AM
You have to be smart about it. The ones I thought were dumb was against KC when he went for the TD on the opening drive rather than kicking the FG and going for it on 4th down for the TD right before halftime rather than kicking the FG and getting the points.

Obviously going for it at your own 18 isn’t wise but the defense did hold LV to a FG and even with that FG it was still just a 1 score lead for LV.
2754829, I agree about the 4th down attempt in the KC game
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Jan-10-22 01:22 AM
The decisions seem like they're made in a vacuum without considering the harm failing causes.

It does feel like the riskiest decisions seem to have very harsh consequences watching in real-time. But, on the other hand, I don't know if that effect is magnified because we are so accustomed to watching coaches make conservative choices.

Maybe the issue is that he's so young and doesn't have a track record of success.

Harbaugh and even Tomlin and Belichek have embraced aggressive moves on 4th down as well. But either because of their experience or better instincts, their decisions seem to have less downside.

But overall, I think the Chargers have reason to feel good about their future.
2754830, I agree with you on all of this

2754866, that white wonder boy ain't going nowhere
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Jan-10-22 10:37 AM
2754827, the thing about analytics
Posted by will_5198, Mon Jan-10-22 01:21 AM
is that you still have to stand by the decision. I feel like a lot of these coaches are copping out just as bad as the old guard, saying the spreadsheet says this is the right choice so I made the right choice.

if calling cover 3 on third down prevents a conversion 52% of the time, and a blitz prevents a conversion 47% of the time, you don't just call cover 3 on third down all game while the other team dials up cover 3 beaters. "coach, the other team went 8-for-12 on third down" -- "well, the analytics say we made the right calls". NO.

if we are just coaching by percentage outcomes, why would we need YOU?
2754811, With the Raiders winning, the Steelers are officially in.

You know who you are.

Dude has won three must win games in the final drive of the game.

2755149, it's crazy because he hasn't played great the second half of the season

He's throwing more pics now, he's overthrowing, more, he's fumbling more. he's been pretty bad in the red zone.

he was on fire early this season but he's had to adjust to so much
aside from Gruden, him and Ruggs were finally so in sync, and Waller was out something like 6 weeks. The line isn't what it was last season. Renfrow has been his saving grace really. Zay Jones at times too.

he strives at the end of games, and he's been money if you have less than a minute, no time outs and need to get into field goal range for Carlson (speaking of money)
2755152, His top 5 in passing yards!

One of his top receivers got kicked out the league.
His coach got kicked out.

His TE and RB are inconsistent.

He totally overachieved this year.
2755156, lol I'm aware of all of this, bro

I've seen every Raider game this season

>His TE and RB are inconsistent.

Waller's been out. Foster Moreau in his place is decent but Waller is next level when he's healthy.

Jacobs has been banged and doesn't have the line he once had. Drake was a great number two for him but he broke his ankle at a game i was at

2755158, Okay cool. Lol
