Since there wasn’t another cancellation with a team left hanging, it was either find a 5-7 team who will be completely overmatched, or have a team do two bowl games which would really be weird.

Rutgers knows they are at a huge disadvantage, but still good experience for the team, and good for recruiting to go to a bowl game.
