2751350, Stewart is Jamaican, boxed as a youth, and has
Posted by allStah, Mon Nov-22-21 05:32 PM
the ability to plow through people who are the same size as him.

Lebron doesn’t want that type of smoke, so stop with the intentional
high blows. People swing elbows to the body, not above the neck
to the face.

It left the Pistons without a big man, so the Lakers were able to
dominate in the paint, where AD went for 30/10.....what a coincidence.

Dude was face to face with Bron and was just talking, he waited untihe was on the the other side of the court with 50 people between them on the court to try to go after him

Bron was probably trying to hit him in the chest but he was pushing into Bron so hard on a made FT that his face was lower than expected

so you're saying he was a bigger loss than LeBron?
2751357, Yeah.
Posted by allStah, Mon Nov-22-21 07:02 PM
Before Lebron got tossed lakers were getting their wig split. They were losing.

and they had just lost the 3rd quarter.

The went on to win the 4th quarter 37/17, giving them the win for
the game.

No Stewart to protect the rim and they were making it tough for
Lebron to get any shots. He had only taking 7 shots.

Had Stewart not gotten tossed, AD doesn’t go 30/10. It was a
layup line for him in the 4th quarter.

2751362, I agree it was definitely a spark for the Lakers for the game…

Does Stewart really rim-protect like that? Was he going to defend Lebron and AD at the same time?

2751356, Funny how as soon as LeBron throws one elbow
Posted by Oak27, Mon Nov-22-21 06:54 PM
all the "this generation is soft, LeBron would have never survived the 80s/90s" fans are absolutely appalled and crying about LeBron being a dirty player.
2751358, The same people said nothing re: Jokic/Kieff too
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Nov-22-21 07:03 PM
It's very dumb.
2751359, I spoke on the Morris situation, and it was a dirty play,
Posted by allStah, Mon Nov-22-21 07:12 PM
He deserved that shove in the back by Jokic.

The problem with Lebron is that he hasn’t spoke on it. He hasn’t addressed it.
This is a guy who will discuss and talk about everything on the planet, but now
he is silent?

And he ducked being interviewed about it, having AD to take on questions and comments about the incident. He has yet to own it, because he knows that elbow
to the face was vicious.

So, I guess he is going to pretend that it didn’t happen.....

2751360, But that's different altogether.
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Nov-22-21 07:28 PM
So what? He hasn't said anything. How does that contradict what the point was - which is that today's stars are "too soft" to play in the 80s/90s.

I think this proves that's not the case. Which was obvious to anyone with eyes, but now there's something to compare it to.
2751366, Also, I never said these players couldn’t play in previous eras.
Posted by allStah, Mon Nov-22-21 08:48 PM
Every player will exist based on what is afforded to them at that time.
However, we are seeing players struggle with scoring because the game
is being officiated similar to the 80s and 90s, and players are complaining
about and aren’t as prolific.

And what does a dirty play at the foul line have to do with
being tough or not tough?

When the bad boy Pistons did it we called it dirty.

There is a difference between a hard foul and busting someone’s face
up with a fist.

2751377, Then this isn’t for you.

what is he really going to say about a situation pending league investigation?

And the way Stewart was wilding out security probably had Lebron go right to the bus

Cats telling on themselves left and right.

It was always such a silly notion that LeBron couldn't play in the 80s/90s. Allowing him to be more physical? lol good luck with that. Imagine Laimbeer trying to deal with LeBron. Ridiculous.

But you're right - a lot of these pundits saying the game is too soft today are calling for multi-game suspensions and crying nonstop about this altercation damn near whining about assault & battery lol.

You couldn't have an 80's style game with today's era of player. Way too big and strong.

Lol

That’s not rough basketball. That’s a hostile act.

Just like when Rudy Tom got decked in the eye back in the
70s, the toughest and ruthless era of them all. It was a hostile
act and the guy was heavily suspended.

It’s the same thing here.

SMH

Stewart was playing hard, tough basketball, and instead of
lebron being tough back, he commits a hostile act.....

Posted by Ryan M, Wed Nov-24-21 02:23 AM
This team is 9-10 and the wins have seemed to be a LOT of close ones. Combined with a very favorable schedule to start means the record is much better looking than the team is. I know we’ve been hit with injuries and such, and I know it’s November but this is bad.
2751443, I'm just trying to figure out the best term for this
Posted by Cold Truth, Wed Nov-24-21 01:37 PM
Clusteruck and Dumpster Fire seem too trite for this.

It needs something better.

But I got nothing.
2751455, In the team's defense, their best player was out for 11 games
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Wed Nov-24-21 07:03 PM
And I'm sure it's been mentioned before but the Heat were something like 8-9 or 9-8 during their first quarter of the season and they pulled things together.

But the thing is with this team, is that we still don't know what they're gonna be because of the injuries. Even 20 games into the season. They still need a decent amount of time to gel.

I think if they can stay healthy, I think they can get to a little over .500.

But as far as being a legit contender and a top 3 seed, I don't know if the team is going to be able to overcome their average start. Golden State, Phoenix, and to a lesser degree Utah are gonna be five or more games up on them before they get going. It may be too much to overcome.
2751456, Sure, we all like to point to the Heat stat.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Nov-24-21 07:20 PM
Which I certainly understand, but it *WAS* a decade ago, and Bron has since been to *9* finals since then. It's impossible to ignore the mileage he has, even if AD doesn't have nearly that (nor Russ but still).

At THIS point, I feel like what we're all hoping for is a '10 Celtics sorta run - which was what, a 4 seed? I think it's too early to say that there's any insurmountable lead but I certainly haven't seen anything that tells me this team is even in a decent spot let alone a GOOD one. I still contend they have too much talent, but a lot of teams have (especially heavy vet squads) and didn't get it together.

I mean, even if you ignore the Russ thing - and I love Russ, but he's been...shall we say less than additive? - there are just some of these signings that were red flags from the get go. Ariza and DJ aren't going to be guys that'll add too much to a mediocre team. They could help contenders, maybe, but DJ has been relied upon way way way too much already which...yikes.

I don't think there's a lot to be done as far as roster tweaks - they've got what they've got, and I don't think anyone would want to take Russ or THT right today, which is ok. But it's really hard to ignore the fact that AD should be out there doing the Giannis/young Lebron thing and go out and fuck everyone up - and he does like once every 4 games. He's too young, too good, and too dominant to phone things in.

We're a quarter of the way thru the year and this team hasn't shown much - honestly, they've blown a number of big leads and eeked out wins they shouldn't have. Their record is...not entirely reflective of where they should be at.

They've got talent and should be better
Probably doesn't help that they're starting 2 process era 6ers in Holmes and Harkless
I don't understand having Bags and Hield on the bench
Hield hit us with 4 3s in the first quarter

They drafted Mitchell who I imagine is going to make Fox available
Mitchell is a 3 ball away from being a solid pro

I was really impressed with Fox
He's put in the work
Put on a lot of muscle
Isn't just trying to blow by everybody for a layup
Mid-range was unguardable, he can pull up inside the arc anytime he wants to
3 looked good
Solid defender

Bags, Hield and Fox can definitely contribute to a contender
Blow it up and relocate to Seattle
Sac is done.

I think it exposed the Bulls biggest problem: half court offense.
Our offense is basically let Derozan and Lavine take turns in iso situations.
And for the most part, it was working. But when their shot isn't falling,
our offense struggles.

I think it was on The Lowe Post Zach mentioned that the Bulls are 26th in offense after a made basket.
We get most of our offense from transition baskets and turnovers.
That's not something sustainable.

You think Bron, or any player of his stature, doesn’t hear their fair share of shit talk from fans?

If what’s being reported is what they said - they deserve to be kicked out. If it’s NOT true, I’d venture to say they crossed a line for Bron to do that.

Fuck them.

Posted by Dr Claw, Fri Nov-26-21 06:34 AM
"Superstar Calls" were a thing well before now, and they're still bullshit.

But the shit they've done this season even in light of the emphasis changes... is so obviously tilted to multi-national betting and enforcing an underclass of teams that it takes me out of the game at times.

The Suns/Cavs game had a number of horrible calls, but the worst was a take foul called on the Suns on the OTHER END OF THE COURT, far from the ball where Cedi Osman hits a 3 in transition. A lot of phantom touches called as "fouls". There were other reasons why the Cavs lost, but fucking up momentum with these calls is getting annoying.

The Anthony Edwards dunk being called back is another example. the defender's feet was NOT set.

It's to the point that you can't just play good defense, you gotta blow out your opponent to insulate yourself from shit like this when the game gets too tight.
2751529, its shitty and its going to get worse now that betting is publicly

2751572, What a night!
Posted by allStah, Sat Nov-27-21 02:00 AM
Skip Bayless is going to have a field day on Monday.

I had 226 fantasy points going into the 4th quarter of that
game. I was like fock it. Hield was 1-14 on the night, and Fox
was just having a decent game.

I’m watching the game and all of a sudden Fox and Haliburton just took over...
Buddy was benched because he wasn’t shooting well. The game goes into
OT and Davis( Kings) fouls out, so Walton is forced to put Hield in....and Bam
he started hitting shots, and him and Fox kept the Lakers in check.

I finished with close to 300 points...I feel bad for the players who went to bed thinking
they had the contest in the bag.

2751732, No, largely because Golden State's depth is much better.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Nov-28-21 12:05 PM
Like, Frank Kaminsky is seventh in minutes per game for Phoenix. You compare their bench to Bjelica, Porter, JTA, Damion Lee, Iggy-- and we haven't even seen the best from Kuminga and Moody, both of whom have way more upside than anyone on Phoenix's bench. And there's Wiseman, who's still a high upside mystery box. And, oh yeah, Klay Thompson will be back.

Combine that with Steph having an MVP type season and Draymond having a DPOY type season, and I'd easily take Golden State in that matchup, even if I continue to be very impressed with how the Suns take care of business.
2751746, all of these things. plus dubs bench getting lots of regular rotation minutes,
Posted by poetx, Sun Nov-28-21 01:38 PM
their 15th man (i know) be getting subbed into games into the 1st quarter (payton).

and all of them know their roles in an elite defense and elite, ball movement driven offense.

during all of their games, they've been routinely subbing around 10 deep, sometimes 11 and 12. and will continue to do so, to the point that kerr can swap entire units. they had that during their first dynasty run, but when they subbed, they kept defensive intensity and held serve until the starters came back. now, the bench is capable of lighting it up offensively, too.

and like you said, kuminga is still waiting to be unlocked. i am still high on wiseman's potential. and really hyped for klay's return.

peace & blessings,

CP3 may be their 3rd best player and he's still playing at a HOF level, Crowder is an underrated contributor on both ends of the floor, you got young guys like Bridges and the 2 Cams just figuring it out, plus vets like Kaminsky, JaVale, you're not talking about potential but guys that have actually been contributors on a Finals team. They you got guys like Shamet & Payton that have been starters in this league and can barely see the floor, I guess we'll find out this week

If Lopez can’t return, Bucks aren’t repeating. Giannis cannot permanently
play the 5. It will wear him out, and Portis is an outside big.

Lopez at the 5 is a must, for his defense and shot blocking ability,
and to stretch the floor on the other end.

2751859, Some Cavs positivity: 1) Evan Mobley is back
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Nov-29-21 12:54 AM
can't say enough how that dude has affected the team with his presence.

2) the 3 bigs line up might actually work more than expected. Lauri Markannen's shot isn't quite where it needs to be, but he seems way more comfortable defending wings than he is other bigs. And he's basically playing like Dylan Windler is, only he's 7 feet. Wild stuff.

3) Darius Garland is really, truly progressing into an exciting player. Against Orlando he was doing some wild shit in the high PnR. One of my favorite moves was the fake lob to a bucket (built on tons of work with Jarrett Allen).

All of this and I think JBB needs to have an assistant coach that can draw up some more sophisticated offense.

No nationally televised games.
But I will LOL if they make the play-in this season and people are shocked to see it.
